My solution for launching a scale model from a rather rough grass field.
A 70mm EDF on 4s but being made of sheet foam and very light it is well throttled back in normal flight so can cruise about for quite while.
It glides nicely too! Von Braun obviously got the aerodynamics about right.
It really is scale.

Two tested early 1945, The intention was to glide to increase the V-2 range.
It was also going to be the second stage of a much bigger rocket that would reach the USA.

Always interested in prototype planes. Perhaps one of the most extreme is the Handley Page HP115.
Intended to explore the low speed flight characteristics of very highly swept deltas as this was seen as the most likely shape for a plane to exceed mach 2.

Seemed like it would make a good EDF if build light enough.
The finished plane built using 3mm sheet Depron.

It uses a 55mm EDF. As I fly from a rather rough grass field it is a hand launch/belly land.
It is quite stable at high AOA which can be taken to the extreme for a true "flop"landing.
The story is that as a good test pilot Buzz Aldrin asked to fly it but as he was slated for a moon mission NASA said no but when he returned he did indeed fly it!
