Default 40mm EDF - What to use?

Hi guys. Im rebuilding a kyosho F-4 Phantom into an E/F variant (long nose plus gun). I am totally unhappy with EDF performance...the 55mm fan does not output a whole lot of "Jet" power, its more of an allround cruiser not meant to gain much altitude. Any vertical maneuver - forget it.
I have re-equipped one with a 50mm wemotec fan, but not much gain there either.....i strongly suspect that without a closed duct and a better splitting in the channel aft of the fan, i will not gain much power in any way.

Soooo where did my thoughts go? Eeeexactly: fully ducted twin EDF. I can fit 40mm fans in there, and come up with a lightweight ducting. Now to my problem: what is there to buy in the 40mm segment?

Option A: Dr. MadThrust 40mm 8-blade unit, 8000rpm/v and 400g thrust (around 1lb) specified. Optimistic, but why not.....
Option B: ChangeSun 12blade 40mm unit. Motor? Nothing to be found.....Specs? Nothing to be found....
Option C: Open to suggestions!

Glad to hear some experiences, hints or pointers

Cheers
Hank

This is another action of 40mm Mystery fan running on 2S. Rather noisy after sucking all the beach sand during beach landings but no sign of loss of power.
(Midi G on windy morn)

Beside few other mini jets.
