RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
I agree with you about those Hoffman systems. $200 for the motor and Fan is still a little rich for me (Chuck's has it for $149). I'd love to put a "Wild Beast" in a HET but I don't like the $130 for the CC 120A ESC. Is the company now on a liquidation cycle?
It's hard to get a main website, so warranty must be a hassle.
It's hard to get parts for the Fan. Don't even talk about buying it separately.
Does anyone have the low down

Hi Bobby,
You might want to try one of these to clean up the air flow over the ESC and wires - The official record is held by a guy who made his own ESC Fairing.

Bobby,
Thanks for the pic posting. I like what you did on your mods.
Mind if I copy a few of them on my rebuild?
Looking forward to your video.
Too bad about your battery. I have had that happen to me several times too. I too balance the cells passively after cooling down and before charging, balance during charge & passive balance again after charge just to make sure and it still happend to me too. Must be the batter gremlins or something.
Cheers!

RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
Have you considered coverting the file to a downsized version of an .AVI file that is not so big?
I use AVS4YOU and there is a specific conversion to make videos files for Youtube.
It is the best video tool I have every used and very user friendly.
I believe they let you d/l it and there used to be a 10 free trail to see if you liked it or not.
I still enjoyed the video. I passed it along to one my flying buddies who bought one recently.
I think he and I maybe on a race to see who can 'hop it' the fastest!

RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
Next time maybe try converting to the AVI option.
Once you select your INPUT FILE and your OUTPUT FILE NAME go to EDIT PROFILE and try these settings;
Video: MPEG4 (VivX.XviD), 768kbps; Audio: MP3, 96kps.
These are pretty much a standard size for AVI files to go on Youtube.
I hope it helps your upload speed. It does for me.

Great Video!
Only wished you could do a lower deck pass. Did you ever fix that rolling tendency?
Anyway, what made you choose Neu 1107/2Y for this project. My research showed it being used in helis!
Are there any other Neu models that you wish you could try?

RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
Aloha, I too wish I could've done a lower pass..(too scared..lol) The jet was way out of trim for the entire flight. If I trimmed it to stop the roll at high speed, then it was way off when I slowed down. After the first couple flights, I found my problem. The left wing had washout built in, the right wing had no washout. I went home and put the heat to it and added some washout to the one without. this fixed the roll problem and was easier than i had expected. The minwax does not cure as hard as epoxy, and can be worked with low heat and some patience. I did get some lower passes on the 6 cell runs. I'm working on that vid now. I chose the 1107-2y because first of all the Neu motors are simply awesome. The 1107-2y in particular has one of the lowest internal resistances of any motor we tested. It is pricey 130 bucks but can handle almost any abuse you put to it, and stays cool at these crazy power levels. Again I sided with experience from my fellow edf flyers from my club and heeded their advice. The 1112 series is also a good choice but with a slightly higer resistance and longer motor case. The longer motor case may be a good thing but this motor has proven itself again and again in our jets. Thanks for the interest in my plane. I wasn't sure if anyone was still working on these. I was inspired after watching Tailslides vid of his awesome Miss Budweiser pass on youtube.

Bobby,
Just viewd Tailslides video you talked about.
Wow! how in the heck can a person keep up with something moving that fast! Amazing!
I wish he took a moment and taped the airframe. I think he has a very interesting paint scheme.

I picked up a flycamone2 today. I'm hesitant to stick it to this jet for fear the velcro might let go. but I would really like to see a low pass at 190. . . lol

RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
Ok the Neu Motor (1107-2Y) gave up the ghost this sunday. I was making a pass at 161 mph on Radar, when the motor puffed a trail of smoke. . lol. Looked like I had a smoke system on it.. I called Neutronics today and they told me to send it to them. Worst case he said it will be 50 percent of the retail price. . The plane landed with no damage. I think I'm gonna move on to a SAPAC Viper and see how fast I can push it.. But I have to say 1500 watts out of this motor for approx 50+ flights ain't bad..

RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
HI,
I am putting together Phase 3 EF 16 and i am wondering what kind of flying skills do you need to fly this? I can fly parkzone corsair , parkzone ultra micro p-51 and primarily i fly helicopters.
Do you guys think i can handle it? and also can some one post low rate settings that will make this jet very docile?
Please advise.
Thanks

Hi if it's your first edf then you picked a great one to start with. Flys very stable build it per the instructions and you will have no problems. If you fly heli's then you can do it. Just remember. It's a jet no airspeed no control..

No problem, I think it's 1" up and down per the instructions. Seemed to work good. Just use some expo, maybe 25 percent. Should be about right.that's 1 inch of movement measured from the front of the tailerons.

Zsultan,
I agree with bobby, its a great 1st EDF to fly! I have had several but this one does a good job.
I have one of these for about a year now, I have not been able to stall it yet, even with full elevator, it just keeps flying!
A marvalous kit to enjoy!
Have fun!

Yak, I splattered my stock F-16 last night while visiting the inlaws in Douglas, Ga. I hit a light pole at full throttle..lol. It was a spectacular crash.. Now I have to build a new one since both out of service now..

RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
I just got my first Phase3 EF-16 KIT from HobbyPeople for $39.99 (president day sale)
First off, great kit!!
I have finished re-inforcement for the stabilitors, assembled tailerons, assembled canopy. I am sticking with the provided decals I am using the Haoye 64mm 7blade fan (tested @ ~450Watts on a 3s 3600)
What is holding me back from finishing is what to use for a thrust tube? I am going to look at a stationary store today and see if I can find something suitable.
