The parts are not expensive, if you want to replace them.

Has anyone put a Turnigy motor and esc in the Habu? Which ones did you use? I am trying to figure out which turnigy motor is the equivalent of a eflite bl15.

thanks for any help.

The stock motor is only rated for 4S. Ideally though, if you want to run 5S, it would be great if someone with a data logger (like the Phoenix ICE ESC or an Eagle Tree data logger) could post some data on a 5S run. We could check the max amps on the data against the stock motor's rating to be sure it's safe.

Otherwise, you simply need a higher Kv motor rated for higher amps, and then a ESC that can handle those amps. I strongly suggest data logging or contacting the manufacturer for info on 5S data.

Guys on the other site are running the stock motor on 5s. Just change out the stock esc for at least a 80 amp one. The ice 75 might be ok if you keep the battery c rating lower.

If anyone does have or obtain data on a 5S run, it would be cool to see it - just so we know what it's pushing.

Thanks!

Can you give some details? What kind of paint? Did you block it off with blue painters masking tape?

my habu has some rough scuff marks on it from my maiden flight.... it flew right through some trees and i thought it was history.
A friend of mine who painted his suggested using light weight spackle and sanding it. Its very light weight not like filler putty but dries pretty hard. I figure I would give it a try and paint it like Hellcat did his.

I was wondering if the home depot paint would make a weight difference or affect any of the control surfaces?
Kindly advise on the best method. I dont want to ruin it .... any more.

Weight from the paint was not a problem. Added about three ounces. I just cleaned the plane with alcohol and shot away. Takes a lot of patience. The low tack blue painters tape will lift some of the paint off when you pull the tape off. Have to touch up some of those spots when done.

Hey everyone
I'm NEW to this thread. Just wanted to say that Me and two others from my RC club got Habu's for Christmas. All three were ordered as PNP stock. But one guy is going to replace the ESC and battery with a bigger setup from Hobby King' Were all pretty excited about the Habu. It should be lots of fun for the the NEW Year of flying.

Regards, Jim

It is a nice flying Jet..A lot of fun just load up on bats so you can keep flying while the others are charging...Someone at my field bought the meteor from Nitroplanes..He maidened it last Saturday..It was basically the same jet ( well besides electronics and foam was different) just 250.00[X(] less and just a tad slower..Even came with the controller..Couldnt believe it, was impressed with it for the money..

Anybody get any data on the 5s for the habu?????? Would like to get a little more speed out of it without spending too much as I have the new Habu coming

Your Right Hooker53
I am having a blast with the HABU. I made a little video with my keychain video camera filmed from my flying field. I call it "Firetower Air Force base".

Anyway here is my video. I hope you all like it.

Four flights so far, and going tomorrow for a few more.

Yeah!
Already thinking towards the HABU 32, that bird will be a few bucks more though. A bit pricey when completed. I did hear that Either H9 or Parkzone was going to come out with a Bigger EDF Jet that was going to be cheaper then the HABU 32. Will see!
