Thanks CP for all the help

RE: FUNJET
It takes roughly about 450W for a FJ to go 100 MPH.
Watt = AMPs X Volts {Volts read with motor running, means under load} With lower quality or very cheap motors, it is better to aim for a bit more power to ensure going over 100 MPH. So lets aim a bit high as is in 550W, extra50W waste in hobby city motor and extra 50W to go a bit over 100 MPH. 550W can be done with various number of cells. Assume 3.5V/cell under load 3S= 10.5V 4S= 14V 550W /10.5V = 52.4A 550W / 14V = 39.3A Assuming that even cheaper ESC's will be good for 4S, you can see that 40A ESC will be cheaper than 55/60A ESC. (If you can afford it buy Turnigy Plush series….maybe get 60A anyway pending your budget)…..Actually work with Chipped prop on that, he knows which ones are better deal. Pending the Charger that you have, or the number of cells that you want, you can decide on ESC, motor. Note there will not be a big difference in battery size, weight or price as far as 3S vs 4S. Why? 4S will need less AMPs, so cells will be smaller....3S will have 1/3 larger cells, 4S will have 1/3 more number of cells....works out to be same....same size, weight, price , power, and flight time if all else is equal and different KVs are matched up to different number of cells etc..... For Higher voltage lower KV motor will be needed. For Lower voltage, higher KV motor will be needed. If you want to climb very well, I mean exceptionally then you don’t want a very small prop. Post your setup for comment by folks and see what they think The above “Does” have a lot of generalizations but gives you an idea. If using 28mm inrunner motors, you would be better off with 480 size (110 gram) motors as opposed to 400 size (80 gram) motors...not accounting for heat sink weight.(add a few grams for HC motors) The 480 motors will handle the AMPs better and have better efficiency and run cooler too (than 400 sized motors). Thanks Gryphon
I'll write down the formula this time. Cp |

I'll be starting a new FJ shortly
Just so you'll know there is a new FunJet coming out in March 2010 Gee It kinda looks like the one I custom build..the wings minus the tip tanks.. Look at the motor mount plate.....looks like metal or silver plastic can't tell.....metal would be better. Can't really tell much more I'll look for more pics. to post CP More pics...Looks much better |
RE: FUNJET
damn.... right when i just ordered the old one[:@] oh well, once I get all my parts in, should i post my build here?
|
RE: FUNJET
The new colour scheme is nice ... the wing reminds me of the MicroJet. This one I need to get! Hehehehee ...

RE: FUNJET
CHIPPEDPROP, or anyone
I have had my FJ for sometime now and I would like to run around 150mph. I have two lipo battiers at 5 cells 3000 watts. I have been on MicroDan website and I would like to go with one of his motors, I know like about setting the FJ up for this kind of speed. It's still in the box and I already have a CC 80 ESC and two hitec 82. I have a stryer with a 400 watt motor and it flys pretty fast. Nitro mini mustang with a NV25 motor with a 8x7 prop. It's time for more speed LOL and the people here in thread have been there and done it. Thanks Hannadav. Flying is not hard, landing is........:D |

I'll be using the "old" plane on the new build. I'll try to post a step by step build. I/we would like to have info if someone gets a new fuse. LIKE...what is diff. other then the missing tanks..which where useless in my opinion. |

You will need about 1500 to 2000 watts to go 150mph I do have a set up in mind...it will not be Microdan as his motors will not run on 5 cells.......maybe soon. The plane will have to be modified with carbon tubes to add strength. I also would suggest balsa elevons to reduce the high risk of flutter or elevon rip out at high speeds. With the set up in mind if you run 5 cells you will need 100amp ESC min. |
RE: FUNJET
Guys,
FYI: Mega motors make most power and have best quality and are made in Europe. Ever since the Distributor of MEGA in USA went out of business about 3 weeks ago, we have been waiting to see who steps up to become the distributor. Instead,,,, for the time being there are going to be few super Dealers. At this time there are 2 dealers who are able to order directly from the manufacturer. They are going to be placing their order this week. If anyone of you wants to place your order for 180+MPH Funjet motor, hurry up and get it done in the next 2 days. One of the new dealers is going to place his order Friday morning, so if you want to get one quicker than otherwise, then place your order by Thursday afternoon. 16/40/X anyone ;) Gryphon |
RE: FUNJET
what is the servo and elevon requirments for over 100 mph. I have 65hb now and stock build elevons. I have some carbon to add to trailing edge and or just behind the horn. i have the eflight six 2700 motor. been running a 6x4 apc gas prop on three cell. just got a new 4 cell 3700 evo to run with it. on a 5x5 apc its running just over 900 watts and 61 amps or so. do I need a upgrade. i have already done the carbon to the wing and fuse.

RE: FUNJET
Well the FJ arrived today and so did the reciever. waiting on the batt and servos to get here. Ill make a vid of buzzing some Italian cows when i get it all together. Also I just back back from Turkey, and man that country is a nasty. ( if you live there, sorry :) )

Any update on your CF project?;) |
RE: FUNJET
ORIGINAL: Dad_Roman Hey B1 dude. Any update on your CF project?;) the 3114 work great in a light foamy and don't strip out every time I land the power set up is kinda on hold right now. I am building a 1/8 scale R/C cruise missile for a guy building a 1/8 scale B1 bomber so my time and extra money is being taken by that hopefully I'll have the crazy fast power set up in the next few months I am doing how to build a cruise missile videos on my youtube page there's 6 so far heres the 1st one http://www.youtube.com/user/b1bman#p/u/17/eDNx_w5EXLk there is some video of the CF funjet on the to flying and somewhat of how I made it heres the video of making it http://www.youtube.com/user/b1bman#p/u/22/pfFXjTnSOPk |
RE: FUNJET
Can you guys recommend a low budget 100mph+ for my funjet. Currently i'm running http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...idproduct=5246 on a 4S 2200mah lipo.
Thanks |
RE: FUNJET
See if this works
http://www.highendrc.com/index_eprod...products_id=35 Use with APC 4.75x4.75 60 amp esc will work (plush if from H. City) I would go next size up on ESC (80ish) You will be in 120 mph range To decrease speed go to 4.45x4.50 or 4.75x4.25?? |
RE: FUNJET
You can use this too
MicroDan(www.gobrushless.com) 2900kv with a E-Flight 60 amp ESC ....has to be E-Flight due to the switching rate REQUIRED by the motor (16hz) This one I have used very light and very fast ...not cheap but worth the money I looked at hobby king and they are out of most of the super cheap motors. You can use any of the 28 mm motors. You need to look for a longer motor and check the specs. to see if it will run on 4 cells. You can run a motor disigned for 3 cels on 4 cells.... BUT it will get HOT..REAL HOT..if you do not have a heat sink and a tons of air flow. |
RE: FUNJET
Well i am in need of a new motor now lol the eflight six series 2700 doesnt like 68 amps and a 4 cell pack.
the max for the motor seems to be a 4 cell and the 5.7x3 prop. its was fastest overall and had most verticle. 32,000 on the ground |
RE: FUNJET
Is that smoke I smell????
E-mail MircoDan and see if he can rebuild...usually about 30 bucks rewire and new bearings www.gobrushless.com Cp takes about 10 days 2 weeks |
