I apologize if this a re-post, by the way I did a search with such word.
I have been checking in wonderful online auction sites, there are some 4 and 6 channel software to learn how to fly. I was thinking about purchasing one for helo training.
If I learn well, then will buy an electric small helo to start with.
I see so many trainers on the market, it will be used on XP. Any recommendations?

Any of the popular simulators should serve you well, RealFlight, FSone, etc.
I've got RealFlight G2, and I taught myself to fly a nitro heli with that. It also helped me to solo my first plane after only three flights on the trainer box.

I am new to heli's, had a Blade CX2 and now have a HB 3, very basic and I can learn a little and pass on to someone else. I bought a S&D from Tower to learn a little more and moving up later to a 450. I have had a couple of Sim and am getting a 3.5 Real Flight for Christmas. They are about half price now that the 4.5 is out and take less memory on your computer. The FMS was in my HB kit but still have not figured out how to get it to work. A heli comes on the screen and I cant get it to do anything....Good Luck...

I've used FMS since I started flying but having read this allong with anothe thread and thought I'd try Clearview, I downloaded and installed, it showed in the top left hand corner of the screen that I had 900 seconds of trial time and at no stage to my knowledge did I press any button to activate it.
I teid to find my TX but wasn't clear if I was piinting it to teh right port, it also slowed my ccomputer right down adn I got a message saying increasing Virtual Memory.
I tried closing Clearview and then re opening it to see if it would work properly and my computer would speed up again following the new installation and could then get it to recognise the TX but when it opened it said I'd used the trial time so personally not very impressed at all and have unistalled it !!!!

I got a fms simulator for X-mas. The instructions seem to be very sparse. Is there somewhere on the cd that gives info on how to use the simulator? I found something but it is in Japanesse. As you can probably tell I am new to this and any help you can give would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks!

The ones that came with mine it really didin't need a lot of instruction as it's really very simple and they only showed how to calibrate the TX, I'd install the software 1st from the CD anyway and it should give you the option for English, if you need help after that let me know and I can guide you through it !!!!!!

Yes, I have some paper instructions and I noticed when I was loading the cd that it asked for what lanuage I wanted and I expected a tutorial. I have calibrated the TX. Now I am looking for some help to get started . I need some basics to get me started.

If you have to change any of these should re calibrate it.
Press i to to take off and you're away, the left hand stick up and down should be throttle and left right should be rudder easiest to check rudder on the ground and the right hand stick left should bank the plane to the left and right to the right and pulling the stick back towards you the plane should climb and push it away from you and it'll descend - if you crash press i again it really is as simple as that.
If it's totally your 1st time of flying you can press C which will put you into follow mode and get you a bit used to the feel of the sticks but as soon as you can you want to stop doing that as it doesn't give you a real feel for flying nor the orientation of the plane coming towards you.
If you want to change models press the F2 button at teh top left of your keyboard and double click on the model you want to change to.
If you have any further queries just let us know !!!!

Realflight G4.5 is what i have and its a blast.
To me its easiest to fly a plane. I have messed with electric Heli's also..... everyone who i have talked with said that the best way to go on a heli besides the CX2 is to jump right into a larger nitro powered heli. I can see what they mean the blade CP not the easiest thing in the world to learn with

Planes are easier to fly and not "quite" so many accidents, it's far easier for an experienced Heli pilot to completely total a Heli than it is for an experienced fixed wing pilot to kill a plane although it does happen.
The 1st plane stage is one of those things that you have to go through just so you don't destroy the second level plane if you see what I mean, the 2 best beginners planes are the Hobbyzone Supercub and the Multiplex EasyStar both of which are excellent beginners and are 3 channel to make it easier.
If you could get lots of Sim time and some help for your 1st few flights from an experienced pilot then I'd choose the Multiplex MiniMag which can be set up as 3 channel rudder only to start and the when you're ready it takes about 5 mins to free up and plug in the ailerons and you have a great 4 channel plane.
If you have any other queries just let me know, I've started writting in draft form something to help beginners especially self taught as I took that route myself and learnt by mistake but also prepapring someone for their 1st flight helps just to get to know what to expect and can possibly avoid writting off a plane.
I've done it as you see so many people with similar questions and thought it would be easier to just copy and paste it for people, it's on my work computer but I'm not back in until Monday the 5th, if you want it send me a reminder next week adn I'll PM it over to you.

Hi,
I am only new here and new to RC planes but so far i have found "aerofy pro delux with add ons" really good,
Will admit it took a bit of getting up and going, had to download a patch to stop the computer locking up,
And also had to update my video card driver to keep up with the graphics
I have configured my own plane in the software exactly the same as my model cub (wings/weights/dihederal/cog etc etc) so hopefully when I eventually come to fly my model the simulator experience may help,
I have been mostly using it to learn to fly my plane but the jets and helis are fun to play with,
Cheers,paul

I have been using FS One since Christmas and I would say that it is the best for anyone on a budget - like myself. At only $99 it is definetly a bargin. The photo-realistic backgrounds put it way beyond what FMS has to offer. The physics are right on and it offers a good selection of both planes and helis.

Can anybody tell me of a website where I can download some new planes for my FMS? I want to try some new ones while I am waiting for the weather to break and I can buy a trainer to fly. Thanks!

Try here http://gunnerson.homestead.com/files/fms_models.htm
and here http://www.rc-sim.de/
depending on where you're at the Hobbyzone T 28 is quite nice to fly as a more beginners orientated and the in the second site the E-Flight Mini Funtana and the Seb Art Katana

Yes it is, it's what I learnt on after I destroyed my 1st plane which had ailerons in 6 seconds !!!!!!
I'd also look at the Multiplex Easystar which is possibly slighly better quality and easier to upgrade and put a brushless motor in at a later stage but it is more money and both are good options at this stage.
Whichever route you go depending upon how quickly you pick it up but you'll probably outgrow them fairly soon, I'm not sure how good a builder you are but you can adapt both for ailerons later if you want.
If you do go the Easystar route you can also get a decent tranmitter now which again will save you upgrading later and also get servo's, speed controller and RX that can also be transferred which you can't do with the SuperCub.
Depending on how much Heli / Sim time you have the other alternative is the Multiplex MinMag which you can start off with rudder only and then when you're ready it takes about 5 mins to free up and plug the ailerons in but ideally you'd really want someone with you for the 1st couple of flights.
If you've got any other queries just let us know !!
