You will need to make a distributor
OR use 2 separate twin ignitions, 2 sensors and 1 magnet. You basically treat the engine as 2 separate 2 cylinder flat twins

Yah Im am thinkin in it it, i think os easy use 2 twin ignitions I need to fit 2 sensosr oposite 180º If I use one ignition with distribuitor will operate it at very high frecuence, 4 times more faster than in a single enginefor example if I run the engine at 3600 rpom a single engine ignition will operate at 60hz but for the 4 cylinder will operate at 240 hz (switching )

now I have removed the main gar of the starter was very hard to began the convertion I damage the starter gear but I will not use it again

Does firing an igntion twice every revolution shorten its life? Essentially the system is charging/discharging twice as much. I guess that current draw doubles??

yes 2 ignitions current draw double but I make this consideration

each turn of engine I mean each 360º each ignition will operate oine time

with a single ignition with a distribuitor the ignition will operate 4 times each turn almost the same current

the other problem I see is the avance, adjust it will be diferent because ignition (single) will work undertanding the engine is runing 4 times faster than the really is doing I mean in 1000 rpm ignition will work as if it be in 4000

And in 6000 ignition will be in 24,000 I tested Rcel Ignitions at no more 16,000 over 16,000 sont works well it began to be hto much high switchin frecuence

2c engines fire every turn, so firing every turn on a 4c is the same. As an added bonus firing on the exhaust stroke helps clean the spark plug.
The setup is 2 ignitions, 2 sensors and 1 magnet. So each ignition only fires once per revolution

Yes I started to make the trimming ring for the hub when I finished it I see a problem

I see the prop hub is not the original, the person who attach the gear for remote starter install a new one. The problem with it is that I think is very small diameter to support the prop, is god for a 10 inch prop but not for a 20 inch diameter prop

Ordering it will take more than one week to Mexico so I decide make a new one i finished it minutes ago, take me no more than hour making it Here are the pics hope you enjoy it

Could one use four magnets and sensors. Space the magnets and sensors lengthwise on the hub enough so they do not trigger the the other sensors? Yes it would fire on the exhaust stroke but that does not matter. If two opposed cylinders fire a the same time you would only need two sensors? If my scheme is workable you would only need one ignition with four HT leads.

Nice job on the hub. I need to get a nurling tool like that.

Thank you for all of your comments

I will use 2 sensorrs one magnet and 2 twin gnitions
the sensorr are fitted 180ª oposite
one sensor is for the fron cilindes and the other is for the hback cylinders
I almost finished the sensor suport

Hello Max,

Do you know that a German manufacturer (BECKER) build a dedicated spark ignitions with 2 sensorsfor this OS FF320 engine ? link here on his website :
http://www.becker-fm.de/shop/product/7241?gID=72

Other ignitions for singles, in-line and soon radial engines.

Regards from France

Nice job Max!

I liked the way you installed the pick-up sensors...

But how will you install the magnets ?

On glow fuel Ignition and some very careful carb adjustments, we have had our 320 idling in the 400-450 rpm range. Its running so slow and with so little fuel that even with the factory straight pipes its almost silent. Folks keep looking to "find" the electric motor.
700-800 rpm is a good flight idle, the 400 is just to impress people.
If you have trouble getting it to run correct check all the Orings in the intake system.

TKG,
The nice work Max is doing on that 4 cyclinder is amazing. He must have done a lot of previous machine work. I bet wh will place a video too. His photos are great!

Tell Bill I said "Hi" forme. I sure hope he is doing somewhat better. I am doing better...stopped eating anything sweet and got on more of a diabetic diet. I can see good enough to get some small (touchy) work done on my Giles 202 with a DLE 30 on it. Well got to go now...my wife is healing from surgery...I am the nurse...meal maker...wash cloths man....ect. Best Regards Capt,n
