Walbro WT 433 Question
#26
I will be able to tell ya next monday. Last monday I was doing taxi testing on my ryobi equiped plane working out a little problem (right wheel had a little toe out, not serious, just an annoyance). After about 10 minutes taxing around the ryobi just up and quit. Back at the pits it would pop and burp but wouldnt run. Up to this point it was running great with good transition, 6700rpm on an 18x8 zinger, fresh gas mix with klotz oil at 50:1. With the stock carb. This is with it enclosed in a P-51 style cowl on a modified Bandito Grande. The cowl has about a 2sq" cooling hole on the chin and the coil sits right there, you can see it. The bottom of the cowl is sloted on the under side with about 1 1/4" wide at the chin to about 2 1/4" wide at the back of the cowl. Seems like it shouldnt be over heating. Didnt feel that hot, but I could be totally wrong. Havent had any time to mess with it this week so a buddy and I will work it out on sunday once and for all. Which includes mounting the Wacker carb. I want to run both in the air to see the real difference.

Well I did the maiden with the stock carb and it seemed to have enough power to satisfy me. When I put the wacker carb on it was clear I would have to rearrange my throttle servo setup. So I didnt bother. I have an over heating problem with my cowl. The plane is down for the moment while I cut a ramp into the firewall to let hot air exhaust easier. After about 7 minutes flying time the motor slowly starts losing power. With the cowl off, no problem. So I wont be testing the wacker carb anytime soon, I want to fly this baby for awhile. Will modify another ryobi and try it out on the teststand.
