all the experts will tell you that the modelelctric coils aren't reliable...and look at the weight of that "exciter" coil.....that's one of the drawbacks of a reliable kettering ignition, the other is high current draw.

as for the ignition module, find a distributor from a '80s-'90s japanese car. inside it you'll find a very nice ignition module that works just fine with 6 volts. lighter and cheaper too.

or for a few dollars more than what they want for a module and e coil you can simply get a ch ignition and be done with it

I posed this question and others to them via email, below are my questions and Mike's reply:

I am interested in your HED and HED II ignitions.

Currently my ignitions are Kettering type only. I do have a CDI in the
final stages that hopefully can be released
in a few months.

The current HED modules do not have regulators, the HED III(coming soon)
will have.

I really don't suggest "full time" operation of these modules as they were
designed to support model engine builders that
usually run their engines for short periods. The CDI (on single cylinder
engines) would be a better choice.

You might try CH Ignitions, they make a really nice CDI for model airplane
use.

Hope this helps............

Mike
