Default Please ID this unknown Engine!

Hello everyone
I'm a newbie and I came across this engine. All I know is this came out of a snapper string trimmer. I don't know the CC and the engine make. The carb is made by nikki. it has a flywheel in the front with no magnet maybe used as a fan for cooling and a drum in the back with the magnet and the magneto. is this worth converting ? is the shaft long enough for a prop adaptor? Can someone tell me who makes this engine.
TIA

Hi Tia,
That is a nice mag setup. For planes you would mount it using standoffs aroumd the mag assy. Put a prop hub on the other end after removing the cooling fan. This way it will turn counter clockwise. It is a Japanese engine, maybe made by Koritz. It should be between 21 and 25cc.

Hi Surfrat,
The shaft looks like a 8x1.25mm stud, but you can take the nut to your local hardware store and match it up with a bolt to get the size. Wackerengines.com or Ken Lambert can make one for you. Ken is an RCU user, do a search.

Most Snappers used Mitsubishi motors and that's the carb they use.

Yes the Muffler is Heavy aluminum cast and The carb is Nikki. Dont know the size or no Engine Model # or serial on the motor. I Started modifying it today. I'll post some pictures later on. Ken do you have a pic of the engine and the prop adapter? if you do I'll be intrested in the adapter. Thanks to everyone who helped BTW this is my first conversion.

I did some cutting in it and did a test run. Here is my Ghetto test stand. Dont laugh. I couldn't wait to see it run and make sure it was ok before I spend more time into it. Just bolted it to a A frame Ladder. It ran great. I din't have any load on it other than the Flywheel with the fins for cooling
jetski_waxhead do you have any pics of your engine and any markings on it?

Another small point, guys, those carbs have a built in fuel pump. No need to put the tank over top.

It uses the crankcase pulses to operate the fuel pump. pump is under the side cover where the fuel line goes on. The little button on the bottom of the carb is a primer button. With the slide valve open you should be able to pump the button and see fuel squirt into the throat. It's pushing on a metering diaphram that feeds the proper amount of fuel to the engine. A walbro carb would probably work better as this one has a very small throat to restrict RPM. by the way, Its a 24 cc motor. 1.4 cu. in. Hope this helps.
