I will bet it was not just a wrong oil problem. Clean things up a little and post some photos of it. We are all kinda like detectives!!! Capt,n

I'm with Flypaper 2 and the Capin' (where's Tenielle?), I don't think it had time to affect the engine.

I ran an old 1968 Yamaha 350cc two-stroke twin on straight weight 30 weight oil for a year without having a problem. That's right, in the oil injection system. I was a poor college student and couldn't afford Yamalube. Of course, I was very easy on the throttle and had to clean the spark plugs a little more often than usual. Not that this proves anything with your B&S four-stroke engine. I just like telling the story.

What about warranty? Could you reassemble the engine and fake it? Shame on me...

I am kidding. Honest! <G>

I had a couple of others look at it and they agree that the damage was probably from a piece of piston ring. I have converted many 2-strokes and never had a problem with any of them. They have been hauling models around for years. The seller of this engine asked us to send it back and it would be replaced, but we haven't heard anything for a couple of weeks.

The flywheel has those two studs with the starter pulley hooks on them. How are they removed? Are the pins pushed in? Threaded in? Etc....

You can drill through to the pins from the back side, then use a piece of hard wire and a hammer to tap them out.

After looking at post 36...that cylinder is shot...no fix...except to re-sleeve it. That engine should have been sent back when it broke. Capt,n

Captain,
I think that doing the conversion voids the warranty. I could be wrong.

I think so too...I guess that right... no repiar will be done on warranty. Maybe he can find some good used parts and make a good engine. Or just wait for a freebie to come along. There is so many small engine out there to be had for next to nothing...its overwhelming!. Best Regard to all...and to all....a good nite! Capt,n
