Homelite chain saw 33cc
#26
I did a 33cc homelite from a Ranger saw last winter that I got from Cummins I believe. Anyway, super easy conversion and it was my first too! I used Whacker Engines mounts, mounting ears, velocity stack, prop hub and muffler and all were a perfect fit. I am extremely pleased with this motor-I run a Zoar 18x6 and it could take more prop. As mentioned, it has tons of power and runs absolutely flawlessly-much better, more reliable and smoother than a friends Brillelli 46 if you can believe that.
When I did the conversion, I took the motor 100% apart just to look at everything and reduce weight etc. before putting it back together, I cleaned and polished it and it looked very, very nice. Anyway, the powerstroke 33cc is a great motor-I have another sitting on the shelf-brand new saw that I got for $29 on ebay!!!!!!

I have been looking for now bearing and seals for it. Not having much luck with it. If I got to a was show I have to get a kit for it and it is a lot of money. There is a place out here called Detroit ball bearing that I was getting all my bearings a seal from. but now they said they do not carry bearings like that or sails. They are all odd ball bearings and are made just for homelite and other saw and waker engines.
That sucks. My bearings and seal are not bad so if I have to put them back in, it is no big deal. I got a now ring and though that new bearing would be a good idea.
bummer

Finally did my 1st conversion after lurking for a few years. New display model Ranger 33cc saw. I'll second the wacker engines items. CJ is great and the plate mounts and firewall worked nicely. it's just on the test stand now but turns an MAS 18x8 at 7700 RPM, idles down to 1300-1400 well too. the transition stinks, but it just needs some adjusting. I have a couple very nice but 20yr old ones on the shelf. I hope they work as well.
About 1:30 intro and description of the bits.
Introduction and spec's
- In the vid I say "Hayes is ready to go for the glow" of course I meant gas, sorry.
Couldn't hand flip it fast enough to get spark (had to try) so I did the rope starter trick and it worked great. I didn't have any small rope so I used heavy construction string.
The video of the first tries and run is about 4 mins long but 2 mins of that is running.
first run
Anyone have a tried and true homie 33 carb adjustment trick?
edit Should mention that after this run I found the factory had the primer bulb reversed. Started much easier after I fixed that.
