hi i recently converted a ryobi 31cc engine and cant get to keep it running long enugh to tune it.... i noticed that it dont suck gas i had to squert gas in the carb by sqeesing the fuel tank .... it runs then as fuel burns out of the line it go to hi rpm and dies ? can any one help please...... i have tryed every thing there is to try .... i was to a point where i need a fuel pump to keep pumping the gas out of the fuel tank to the carb.

This may sound dumb, but I think you have the fuel lines on wrong.
You want two lines going to the carb, one line tales the fuel to the carb the other takes the overflow from the carb back to the tank. Push the fuel bulb, that gas that comes out should go back to the tank. The fuel bulb sucks gas through the carb, it doesn't push the fuel to the carb.

I get about 7100 rpm with a 16x8 prop.
If you converted it to EI that is what you should get too. If you did not convert it to EI I'm not sure what you should expect. I know that you want to advance the timing for more power though. There are a couple of ways to adjust the timing with the mag:
1 Move the pick-up coil about 1/2" clockwise standing in front of the engine.
2 Take the flywheel off, you'll see a slot for a woodruff key. With a dremel tool make another slot about 1/8"to the right of the slot that's there.

On the carb there is a hole above or below rhe carb throat. If the gasket covers the hole the pump action of the carb wont work. Check the alignment of the gasket.
