Just as an FYI, i just ordered [link=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270197285587&ssPageNam e=MERC_VIC_RCRX_Pr2_PcY_BIN_IT&refitem=27019730902 0&itemcount=2&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedru le1=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_wi dget]these[/link] off ebay. 6 leds with 5 different flashing modes and hooks into the receiver. I'm going to see whether I can add a signal line so that i can switch the modes from my transmitter.

Found 2 more led heli lights, on Ebay. One of them has
3 lights, starboard, port, & tail. For around $11.
The other has 4 led lights, the fourth is a spot light to
mount on the underside of the nose for $13.39.
You can locate them on a search for helicopter lights.
There are others, but these 2 seem the best. Especially
the 4 light set-up.

High flyer 777--

Also....I've found these to be my favorite so far..There the Li-Glow's. There's a vid of a CX2 with em on. They are actually brighter, and crisper than what the vid shows. Here is the website http://www.tjtrc.com/LiPoV2.html

The V2 version seems to be the favorite...I believe that's the one used in this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8CON2oioNo

Seriously give em a shot ! Good Luck...

I looked at those too but decided against them. I wanted something I could run off 5 to 7 volts from my receiver so that I could control them from my radio. The two you listed require a y harness with either your jst or deans direct from the battery, pita and they are always on.

Hey druss.....those that you ordered look good. What kind of wait time you thinking you will have before recieving? I am leery of international shipping and customs stuff. But them there lites........makin me wanna take a shot at the 24 bucks. One other question, are the lights programmable or are they shipped in the sequence you prefer?

It will probably take around 2 weeks for them to arrive because of christmas, the funny thing is that i've ordered things from hong kong and the US at the same time and received my hong kong package first.

i've probably ordered from overseas at least 10 times in the last year and never had a problem.

they are not programmed to a specific sequence, there is a button that you press to scroll through the different choices (5 of them).

high flyer/Druss,

I know you will love the lights. The ones Druss bought look cool but they weigh 25g and for those flying a small coaxial or micro like the Honey Bee King, that might be a little too much weight for everyday flying.

I continue to look for a "search light" type LED to mount on the belly of a yet to be bought Bell 206L type body for my heli.

Druss, I would love to see the final project with those lights when it's done.

ATTN: What are all you guys using to glue/mount your lights? I'm looking for ideas.

Since I'm putting them in a king2 scale project I don't really mind the weight, I also have the 3800kv motor upgrade so it should be ok.

I thought about a search light too but I'll see how I can do it. I might just take one of those led pen lights and use the top reflector from it with the led to make one.

For a search light you can go in model boat accesories and you could find a search light for search and rescue boats I'm shure.

Hello,

I'm using HoneyBee FP with its stock '4 in 1'... Please, does anyone has the experience with the lights for HBFP, which lights would fit stock HBFP without adjustments?

thanks!

I've got some lights I purchased on Ebay. They are sold by
hobbyjapan2000. But look them up on Ebay, they are cheaper
by the same seller. 3 lights for $11, 4 lights for $13. This price
incluedes shipping.
They have a Y-harness so you can plug them right into your receiver. No
soldering.

there are also lights for cars that may work. for cars they are meant to be either fog lights or mounted on a roll bar but looks like you can mod them to fit on a heli. I've also seen the search lights designed for boats and they may work too but I can't find any led ones and the ones i did find work off 3v, I might just jury rig something to 2 AA batteries to work one.

Druss & guys,

Thanks for the info. I'm still WAITING for my heli so the searchlight is on the back-burner for now :-(

I guess that these would do (found on ebay):

"3 LED RC Helicopters Navigation Lights (flashing LEDs)"
(Price + shipping = 11 USD)
Seems that those would fit HBFP without soldering and adjustments..

Am I correct?

Yea, the Y-harness plugs into the controller, runs the Y
one to the lights, the other to plug in the battery.

I just remembered I have a couple of the "toy type"
indoor heli's packed away in my closet. Some of them
have a single light on them. I could probably take one
of those lights to use on one of my 4 or 6 channel
heil's.
What would be the best way to install the wire for
power?
yeah - i have a Piccoz clone, which has a very nice flashing nav light in it. I mean, I used to think THAT was a cool helicopter....yeah right - thrust and left and right....so now I'll just take that light out and put it in my Comanche!! cool.

I just did a quick mod today for a search light. I bought a gimbaled search light from mack marine and wired it to a female jst plug, then i took a bought a 3 cell AAA battery holder from circuit city for $3 and wired it to a switch with a male jst on the other side.

The reason i did it this way was because I couldn't find any led search lights, they might be out there but couldn't find any. The light from mack marine cost $10 and the battery holder was $3 (the jst plugs i had sitting around) so the total cost was $13. The reason i'm doing it this way is because the light works off 3v and I've got 3 x 1.2v rechargables for 3.6v which is ok but i know i'd blow the bulb if i ran it off the receiver at 6v. i thought of using 2 1.5v alkaline batteries but the 3 aaa rechargeables weight less.

Did you ever get that light kit from ebay you ordered Druss? I was waiting for your input before buying some for myself. That looked like a good setup for one of the blade CP's. I am going with Radio Shack for straight LED's and resistors. Found a website that pretty much deciphers all the lectronic mumbo jumbo and gives yu a good idea of what lights can be used as well as which doohickeys to buy to keep em from blowing up. http://www.theledlight.com/ledcircuits.html
On the searchlite note: I ended up buying one of those car kit setups..... 2 whitel leds for headlights and 2 reds for brake lights. I just wasn't happy with the brightness so ended up getting a set of Traxxas shock mounts and used the top caps to make my own searchlite. Drilled a hole in it and inserted the led, checked the fit, then painted it with chrome paint and CA'd the led in. It isn't a direct spot......but a large flood and works quite well. I mounted a HS55 under the 4 in 1 on a CX2 and mounted the "spotlite" on the servo horn and control it off the extra channel. Moves up and down and actually works fairly well........ but not as sweet as that spotlite you have. Durnity man, yer makin me jealous!

Sorry Arrrow, haven't received the lights i ordered yet. I expect them sometime nest week.

nice info on the led's, I might just have to get two and put them in series to run off the receiver, maybe i can put two spotlights on the same heli. i'm going to see how the bulb in that mack marine spot light is attached and if it's not a big deal pull the regular bulb out and replace it with an led one.

the light is ginbaled so I might attach a small micro 3g servo to it to move it up and down but for now just having it bolted on is find.

I'll definitley let you know when I get that ebay kit.

www.hobbyjapan2000.com has 2, 3, & 4
light set-ups. The 4 light set-up has a

let me see if i can find the camera jimby. I used it on the jobsite the other day and have since misplaced it. My luck its down in the garage with the rest of the tools. If I can get my grubby hands on it, will take pics of the entire setup tomorrow before heading out to do some flying. I am due for a major heli fix as well as get s couple of the planks in the air. Weather looks downright uncooperative but it seems there is always a window between gusts and rain showers. Timing is key in my area during the winter for outdoor flight!

Well got 3 set of lights from hobbyjapan2000 the other day.
2 for me, 1 for a friend. I bought the 3 lights sets. 2 constant
flashing for port & starboard. (red & blue) & 1 white light that
is larger & acts as a spot light. Pretty nice & light weight too.
Easy to install, they come with a jst plug, just plug your battery
in, drill or melt holes w/a tip of a soldering iron, tape the wires
to the canopy & you're good.
Cost including shipping was $10.99 per set. They also sell 2 &
4 light sets. You can purchase directly from their website, but
they are selling the 3 & 4 light sets on Ebay cheaper.
