Does anyone know anything about these gadgets that you screw into the exisiting cylinder head in place of the glow plug to convert to diesel? Do they work? Where can a person get one of these?

I think I have heard mention of such a device. I've run a regular glowplug K&B 4011 on Davis 1/2A diesel fuel and it ran fine. I had to leave the glow plug battery on for about 30 seconds until it warmed up so it would run steady.

Yes, and they are a glow plug drilled out and fitted with a copper plug. The idea behind them is to let someone explore running their engine on diesel to see if they like the whole diesel concept without spending a lot of money. While they run, they do not run at optimum setting as they are non-adjustable and every engine is different. As an experiment, they are fun, but for practical use (like flying an airplane) they are not worth a crap.
