Default Gadget conversion?

I would like to convert an OS40 LA to diesel. Has anyone tried the Gadget Diesel Conversion Adapter? Is so what is the fuel mixture to use?

Mike,

Just a suggestion but I would contact Mr. Davis about one of his excellent conversion heads. It uses standard model diesel fuel and folks have raved about it.

If you take the time to read that link above, you will find that results are "iffy" and you need to mix a special fuel. At least, that what I got from it.

Good luck either way.

Mike Dec fly RC has a test and write up on the OS46 LA with a Davis head ( yes 46 not 40) the results in running maybe not in this plane but a very good insight and set up would be similar of course with a smaller prop maybe by an inch, both of these engines really come alive as diesel conversons with Davis heads martin

these engines are popular, durable, available,, not expensive, run on normal model diesel fuel just excellent 40 class conversion with no issues

I mis-spoke on the %s in the Gadget fuel, it is the following, also a couple of pictures of the Gadget plugs.

Ether=======75%
Castor oil====25%
DI========05%

Hobbsy at 75% ether I am sure a number of my higher compression glow engines would run on this stuff as is, but again not that practical at least for me martin

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the Gadget fuel makes very little power, they require a huge prop that only turns about 5,500 rpm because they won't turn much faster with a amall prop.
