Default Found PAW 06

Hi group while going thru my stuff in the plane room found an empty PAW 06 box, Wheres the engine? thought it was lost, going thru the boxes of started but not completed
planes one was the polk hobbies tiger moth electric which I tossed the PAW into a few years back. A little stiff, a few drops of Davis 1/2 A fuel down the throat of the carb and
into the exhaust and some very gentle rocking the prop nice and free loosened the compression screw all the way and a few flips and in banged up, did not want to bend the rod
with a hydro lock nice and bouncy ,started lowering the screw 1/2 a turn at a time and finally off it went on its little prime having bent the rod on my PAW 03 this time I was not heavy
handed, Really getting into the little stuff now for the park flyers and with my cox davis conversions too all set for power plants

The goldberg lightnin bug will get a cox classic plane, classic american motor , will post pix as we progress, this a front burner project to finish and fly (lightnin bug)

Good job, I'm still looking for my PAW .19, may be the same situation, perhaps mounted on an unfinished plane.l

Hobbsy the lightnin bug will get the sure start Cox 2 pcs 1/4 sq glued to the firewall longwise will take care of the offset required for the choke tube clearance then its a bolt up
with 4 screws will plenty of room for a small 2 oz tank behind the wall then on with the flying surfaces ,servos are already in. The tigermoth with the cabines and fus support for the upper wing will take some work plus the detail work, paint the cowl, install windscreen, landing gear, back to the lightnin bug the cox surestart easily hand starts, and really screams will hold the front intake bee 049 for a hotter plane martin

Martin, the PAW looks really nice nestled into that Tiger Moth. Something about the low pitched diesel sound on a biplane just warms the heart. My 06 throttles down really well and sounds fantastic on low, slow flights around the field. I hope you'll get that going and send us pics and a report.

Are you sure about the Goldberg Lightening Bug? There was the little Jetco Lightening Bug, but that was for .010. Don't know which Goldberg plane you're talking about.

Btw, I've got a new skid on my Nieuport...hoping for better take-offs. Will give a new flying report when my bum knee gets better and I can get out to the field again.

just looked at the instruction book on the Goldberg lightnin bug ( dated 2002 on the cover) the very last page reads we have included
an 1/8 fire wall marked with centering lines if want to power with 1/2A glow the box has a label GGP Oakwood Ga
12073 red lightnin bug, someone must have been colorblind when they packed this one its yellow and white

on the Nieuport skid maybe you could glue on some sort of plastic strip as a wear surface, get the knee better so you can hit the field

Oh, sounds like an ARF, not a kit...that's why I hadn't heard of it.

The new skid is a really tough piece of music wire attached the the stump of the former skid with copper wire and JB Weld. It should hold up very well. It gives much more of a contact surface with the ground than the old stump did. I really hope it smooths out the take off run because it was almost impossible as it was. If this works, I'll have a very good airplane...no problems once in the air.
