Hi All,
I am interested in building a FW-190 A5 or A8 and I am looking for something in the 80" range so when our club has a War Bird event there is something other than the 15 or 20 80" P-51s flying. I saw the JD website, but the phones have been turned off.
Thx for any info.

Not sure the Devine kit would still be attainable or not, but the Holman kit is tough to beat and has a better scale profile IMHO.

wulf190 - Your planes look great! I called Bill H. but he doesn't have a lot of info on the planes so I hope you don't mind if I ask some questions:
1) What does your A5/8 weigh?
2) What motor/engine are you using?
3) Whose retracts are you using?
If you have anything else to share that would be great.

Thanks Bill. I've used a variety of gear and engines across different planes and have had good results with all honestly. Expected weight is 23-26 pounds probably depending on your equipment selection, like sliding canopy, tail retract, etc. They will fly great on a G62 which is a tight fit, but enclosed. My old one flies nicely on an OS BGX but its at it's limit. I used a CRRC 45 cc ignition gasser on white 10 which should power it well...just need something that swings a 20/10 prop well, like a Moki, G45 etc. I've had Barton and Shindin retractable in mine, and both work great. Sierra gear will fit the wing too.
It's a great flying plane. Takes off nice and smooth with no bad habits. It's well priced for what you get and there are a wealth of aftermarket parts out there like display props, wheels, cockpit, etc. You should be comfy with a glass and foam core build is all. Anyone who has built an FW will know that there is a good degree of fiddling to get the wheels in the wells when installing the gear, but since I have done it several times now, it's a lot easier. It does require the flaps to land, but lands awesome wih them.

Great thx for the info. I was hoping to use a Brisson 2.4 (40cc) I have for this project, but based on the engines you have used it may be a little undersized.

The Brisson is a good strong engine though. I think it would fly the plane pretty well honestly. The BGX just made a guy fly the plane a little more carefully was all...take offs nice and long and landing throttle a little more important. Once the gear are up, no worries. The firewall distance requires an engine on the shorter side unless you recess the firewall of course. The G62 is a lot of engine for the plane, it doesn't need that much for sure.
