Same sort of problem here. When I "swipe" a whole word or sentence, only the first letter is highlighted.

IE6 and XP

It also affects the LINK button function.
When I select some text ( I have to use the SHIFT-ARROW keys to select because click-drag-mouse doesn't work) and want to create a link with that text, the LINK button used to bring up a prompt with the highlighted text prefilled in at the URL text textbox. It doesn't do that now. You have to manually fill in the URL text again no matter if you have anything highlighted

EX: [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/post.asp?do=reply&messageID=5954239&toStyle=tm]LINK TO THIS THREAD[/link]LINK TO THIS THREAD

[link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/post.asp?do=reply&messageID=5954239&toStyle=tm[/link]LINK TO THIS THREAD

As you can see, the link prompt simply pushes the selected text aside and creates the text again (first Example). If you leave the URL text blank ... it simply inserts the URL and again pushes the highlighted text aside.

I copied the Error on Page text (found by clicking on the Warning prompt on the status IE status bar). It only occurs during the post.asp EDIT ( It also happens at the EDIT.asp). I can highlight text all day as long as I'm not at post.asp.
Here's the text:
LINE: 18
CHAR: 2
ERROR: Object doesn't support this property or method
CODE:0
URL: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/post...239&toStyle=tm

The URL is the URL displayed while writing the post.

As you can see from the QUOTE thread ... I've already done that and the problem still exists ...

Just in case, I'm not flushing correctly ... exactly how do you clear the cache? In IE6, I've hit the Delete Cookies, Delete Files, and Clear History buttons.
Where is the Clear Cache button??

Where is the (IE6, XP) Clear Cache button??

Here's another tid-bit. The area where I cannot highlight is in the textbox for the message I'm writing.
If I scroll down to the previous post(er)s, I can highlight text just fine.

So it has something to do with the function of the message textbox only ... any text outside of the message textbox is selectable.

yes. we are aware it is textbox only. that is due to the javascript functions which allow you to edit tags like bold

Hi Marc. Same problem and same version of ie with SP2 here. I noticed the same thing start ~10 days ago if that helps you narrow it down any.

Hi Marc,

Are you getting anywhere with this? I should be around the PC most of tomorrow if you need any more info to help solve this issue. As of right now there is no change. Cleared the cookies and temp files (again) but still can't get the "drag to highlight" to work.

Been on two week vacation. It's July now and the problem still exists.

Too bad they can't just undo the upbug (upgrade) they did that caused it in the first place. Believe it or not, this did work in the past.

Bumping the thread back to the top for the benefit of the NEW users experiencing the same problem and starting new threads for the same problem.

Continue sending in your OS and browser data to the admin and they will continue to not fix it!!!!

Problem still exists. It's been a while since the problem was first reported.

Have you gotten closer to resolving the issue or have you abandon all efforts ... making us that are having the problem "expendable"??

No response from RCU??? I guess we've been abandoned in place ... with no expectations of ever resolving the problem.
Too bad ... I'm gonna miss RCU
