Default Trying to get DG1 and DG2 to work

I have a 16IZ and I’m trying to get DG1/2 channels on my R7014SB to work.

I’ve set the system type to FASSTest 18CH and am using the default switch assignment

I see the on the servo monitoring screen the switches changing the state of DG1/2, but when I look at the signal pin with a voltmeter I see the voltage change from .2 to .4V on switching.

I’ve been unable to find much info on how exactly this is supposed to work. Maybe it’s changing impedance?

Any info on how I should configure the system to be able to switch using these digital channels would be really appreciated.

Thanks!

think of it as a digital on/off switch, as in either/or operation.

Yes i understand that.
So I expected the signal lead to go from ~0V to ~6.6V when I throw the switch on the transmitter, but it doesn’t. It goes up by 0.2V

What happens when you connect a servo. Don't obsess over voltages. Connect a servo. ALso, what are you trying trying to do with those 2 channels??

I connected a servo and it works!

I think I understand what’s happening!
it’s not really a “digital” output. The output is toggling between the min throw pulse width and the max throw pulse width.

I was connecting DG1/2 to the inputs of a sound card to trigger various scale sounds. Works on a regular channel, but I guess the sound card isn’t compatible with this type of input.

Thanks so much for your help!

The transmitter only sends out 16 channels.
DG1 & DG2 are not "true" channels in the sense of normal operation.
They are masked into other channels - hence why they cannot be adjusted or pulled into any mixers.

I would suggest that you put something simple like U/C etc onto DG1 & DG2, that will then leave you to use any of the normal channels for your sound card operation.

I think of the DG channels as essentially ON/OFF switches. Lights, smoke, gear, etc.
