Hi Jerry,
The FGK systems used a FP-TF module which is no longer manufactured. You may be able to find some one who would have one that they are willing to sell you. As long as it is the FM version, it will be legal for use.
The following is a list of modules and what transmitters they were used for:
Discontinued
Module Radio
TD - 3EGX
TG - 3PG
TF - FGK Series
TL - 3PB
Current
Module Radio
PK - 3PK
TP - 5, 7, and 8U series and 9C (will also work in the 3PJ)
TK - 9V and 9Z
TJ - 3PJ (will also work with 5,7,8U and 9C for 75Mhz)
I hope you find this information helpful. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at 217-398-8970 for Support, 217-398-0007 for Service or via fax at 217-398-7721 or by email at [email protected].

Hi Krysta, please forgive me for reviving this old thread... I've got a Futaba 3EGX radio that I like (on 75mhz), and want to convert it to FM. What module should I be looking for to do the conversion? Thanks for your help!

Hi Jerry,
Unfortunately, the FGK series radios took a completely different module than the newer TP, or TJ series. The older ones were physically larger and the newer models will not fit into the 7FGK.
You may be able to find an FM module for this series radio at an RC Swap site.
I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.

OK, this thread makes it quite clear that the FP-TF-FM modules are AMA 1991/Narrowband legal IF they are FM. What about the AM modules? I have a FP-TK-AM module on channel 38, complete with the integral red circle channel number. Is this module AMA 1991/Narrowband legal? Are there FP-TK-AM modules on the post 1991 frequencies that are not legal?
I have two FP-T7FG/K transmitters, One that is fixed frequency and does not take a module. It does have a gold sticker. The other one has an RF module (FP-TK-AM, ch38) that does not have a gold sticker. I have been assuming that the latter is indeed legal with the AM module. I understand this thread to say that it is certainly legal with the FP-TK-FM module. I am not clear about the FP-TK-AM modules. Please clarify.
By-the-way I don't find a manual on the Futaba website for the post 1991 FP-T7FG/K transmitter with the RF module option. I only find the fixed frequency version of the manual, which lists the old obsolete pre-1991 frequencies. Can you point me to the post 1991 version of the manual?
With the exception of the module receptical, both my transmitters look identical inside and out. Were the early pre 1991 FP-T7FG/K transmitters designed to be easily gold stickered or did the guts of the radio get entirely replaced with the post 1991 components when it was gold stickered?
Thanks
Mike

Hi Jerry,
Unfortunately, since this radio has not been manufactured for so long, we no longer carry parts for it. The module in this radio is far larger in size than any of the current modules we carry and current ones will not work in this transmitter.
You may want to check to see if you can find an FM module for this on an online RC Swap meet somewhere. There have been a few out there for sale for these old model radios.
I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.

Hi Duane,
No problem, I just wish I could help you out. Unfortunately, again, we don't have any of these modules for these old units.
Yours probably has an FP-TD-AM module in it, as it is the same size as the FP-TF FM module that was used in the FGK series, this one would make the switch for you, but you will have to do some searching to find one. RC Swap meets, either online or local ones, are a great place to find parts for these radios.
I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.

Thanks much Krysta!
Now I know which ones to look for.
Two more questions... Is the pin arrangement the same on the FP-TF-FM as the FP-TD-AM; will it just snap in place? Also, was the FP-TF-FM offered in surface frequencies (27 & 75 mhz), or if not, can an air frequency be re-tuned to 27 or 75 mhz?
Cheers,
Duane

Hi Duane,
I am not sure if the pin arrangements were the same or not, but we are not allowed to give this type of information out. I really don't know on these older modules if they would just snap in place and work or not.
The TF module was never offered on 27Mhz or 75Mhz, only 72Mhz. Also this cannot be retuned by us, as we no longer carry parts for it.
