I didn't see anywhere it was noted that truth fit any of the unallowable categories.
Staff here does seem to allow you more latitude than others.
If nothing else, there's entertainment value here.

Quoting from DLE website..." We will only sell our products and authorize warranty w/parts to our authorized distributors."
You can check their website for their distributors here in the US. There are a lot of copy cats comming out of China !
There are a few low cost HS that sell DLE but send repairs out ( out source ) or say they have to order parts. ( Cavit Emptor ).

There's one individual right here on RCU that lists them in the MarketPlace. He drop ships the DLE's (from China), and has a buddy repair them.

Can anyone help me find the manual for the DLE 30....?

It seems that the manual is not available unless you buy the DLE 30 from the supplier that might have a manual.... I also understand that the manual may be written here in the USA and not by the DLE company... The little sheet of paper with safety instructions is all that I received with my new DLE 30....

Thanks...

http://manuals.hobbico.com/dle/dleg0030-0031-manual.pdf

But there are errors as apparently the guy was a newbie.

Biggest one is that the timing is 28-30 degrees and not 45 - 47

And yellow spark plug electrodes?

Another reason to buy from a dealer that has taken the time and expended the effort to build support and reliability into the product line.

If tower did discontinue the DLE30 it is because they figure the DL 20 will be a big seller & it fits more of there smaller airplanes. Besides...they do not know how to service a DLE30. Capt,n

WOW! I step away for one day and this place blows up! Lots of flag wavers in here now. Last I looked, Tower Hobbies is an American company.

Lets start with the source of the problem shall we? American consumers wouldn't be buying these cheap Chinese engines in such volume if they weren't offered by a bunch of big and small American companies. If I had to fly to China to buy a DLE 20cc engine, I wouldn't own one. And if DA was my only choice, I couldn't buy one.

I wonder how many blue nose P-51s Hangar-9 would sell if the price was $649 and the ad on their web site said "Made In The USA"? Labor costs in the USA are rediculous. If a member of the United Auto Worker union is getting paid $34 an hour to sweep floors at a GM plant, no wonder American cars are so expensive! So lets ask all the true partriots in this thread to take a 50% pay cut to help the US economy!

I have the sheet of paper that came with the engine... gives some carburator info and adjustments and suggestions.... ..Just like the first one on your post.... it is fine to start but I had hoped for more details and several pages of info, parts, etc....

I can down load the single page like I have but my computer keeps giving me an error if I try to down load the other , Hobbico or second manual ....which I hope is the one with more detail info... thanks..

Head over to the Tower Hobbies web site, do a SEARCH on "DLE 20", and just below it's photo is a link to their manual, same as what's linked off my message here. It's a .pdf file, you'll need Adobe Acrobat reader or similar, to view it.

Parts listing is also noted on that page, on top right.

Hmm, they're STILL noting theirs comes with 4 stand-off's![sm=bananahead.gif]

I just picked up a new DLE111 with mufflers on ebay for $580 total shipped... As for Tower I never have problems with them on the merchadise I get, they stand behind the stuff they ship out and there priceing is good, it is conveneint for me to keep a list and order once a month, which works out good unless you need something now, than it is a few days wait for the mail.

Tower has made good on a couple of damaged-in-shipment items for me, as well as replacing some epoxy that had unilaterally gone off by itself in the bottle. They said the epoxy was old although it was less than 9 months from when I had ordered it. They replaced it anyway, in good faith.

My biggest problem with Tower is that they are getting to be almost a monopoly in the industry, which I think is not good.

Sincere best wishes for a Happy Holiday Season and Merry Christmas to one and all.

I now have a good copy of the manual that I have been looking for so long... my problem with the download was in my computer.... I got some advice to save the download (which was giving me an error reading) to my computer then open the downloaded manual... and there she was in all her glory... the nice large manual for the DLE 30 engine.... Thanks to all once more.... Richard

Many people seem to be loyal to price above anything else. I can only wonder how loyal they are to that premise if and when they go shopping for a surgical physician to perform a life critical procedure. Will you want the lowest bidder then?

As for an earlier comment, yes, Tower is an American company that consists largely of off shore business interests.

It once was that all of our military software and hardware contracts were let to the lowest bidder. More recently, the contracts are let to the contractor(s) with the best value. Big difference there. Also to preclude sole source monopolies, a second source for critical items was often awarded, even at the added expense of duplicate tooling and management costs.

Sincere best wishes for a Happy Holiday Season and Merry Christmas to one and all.

IF BUYING A CHEAPER PRICED ENGINE FROM AN OUTSIDE SOURCE WILL KEEP YOU GOING IN THE HOBBY, THEN DO IT !!! DON'T FEEL BAD ABOUT IT !!! IF A POTENTIAL HOBBYIST GETS DISCOURAGED BY THE PRICE OF AN ENGINE AND DECIDES TO NOT GET IN THE HOBBY,... THE HOBBY LOSES. I AM ALL FOR SUPPORTING MY LOCAL HOBBY SHOPS AND I DO... EVERYONE SHOULD. IF AND/OR WHEN YOU HAVE AN ENGINE PROBLEM, LEARN HOW TO ADJUST OR FIX IT. IF YOU ARE UNABLE, DUE TO VISUAL OR PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS OR JUST PLAIN NOT MECHANICALLY INCLINED, PAY THE EXTRA COST FROM A GOOD SHOP FOR THE PEACE OF MIND. YOUR JUST BUYING INSURANCE AND YOU'LL COME OUT AHEAD.

Why would I do that??? That's why I have insurance...

What large company selling to the average consumer isn't in bed with off shore business interests?

If I go to my local hobby shop practically everything in there is NOT made in America. So are you saying I should not support this local shop?
