Needles working loose - help!
So I'm thinking my needles are working loose, which is why my tuning is being such a pain. After all my tuning, I checked my needle settings last night, and the low is at 1 3/4 still. I know I have leaned it out more than that. I'm going to double check when I go out this weekend. Does anybody have any tricks for tightening up the needles? Can I put a little loctite on the threads and let it dry out prior to screwing it back in, or can I just put a dab with the needle still installed to hold it? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Saw a person with guide tubes for adjusting touching them and wore them out with the vibration, Then it was new carb time!

counterbore the needle threads vey slightly. Place a small O-ring and a washer under the spring. The compressed O-ring will keep the needles put.

I put a short piece of Tygon on the low needle(about 3/4" long); it just rubs on the HS needle enough to keep them both from turning. It also helps me guide my screwdriver onto the needle when adjusting thru the cowl...

Thanks, I know about the WJ71, and no needles are not long needles. I'm trying to fix it myself if possible as I'm on parental leave for another month, so trying to do this on a budget for this summer! Thanks for all the replies. I might go out tonight and see what's going on. Cheers.

How much time do the bearings have on them and do you use after one oil? A bad front bearing can cause air to leak into the case making tuning frustrating if not impossible.

There's only a few tanks through the engine. I'm assuming you meant after run oil? I have never used after run oil in a gas engine.

After run oil in a gas engine? That's a new one. For the glow to gas newbies, gasoline is not hygroscopic and the pre mix oil is a far better lubricant than any after run oil one might think about using. Shorter version is one does not use after run oil in a gas engine. That's a slimer activity.

you can use a drop of c/a glue on the threads only. let it dry for a few hours. it will make it a little hard to turn but won't lock it up. ajust it and it will hold it there, and allow you to ajust it again a little bit..........RON

I've used 2 stroke oil to winterize it. I might try fogging spray this winter, I think I still have some around from my old sled.
