G-38 question

My g-38 refuses to start suddenly after running for gallons. Pulled the cowl and prop. I can't seem to get the flywheel in the proper position in relation to compression/sensor pickup. Is it possible that somehow the crank has spun or something? This is my only zenoah/ magneto engine I've ever owned and can't figure this out.

It is possible that if the flywheel was a little loose the key could have sheared . Remove the prop hub and see if the flywheel is loose , then remove the flywheel and inspect the key and keyway.

Glad you got it going . The key shears from looseness but sometimes the keyway burrs a little when the key shears and make the flywheel seem like its tight . If it didnt require substantial pressure from a puller or a good hard wack from a mallett to pop the flywheel off - it was loose.

Iwill add my 2 pennys worth I have a 20 year ol 38 and the best way to reinstall the flywheel is heat it in toster oven just so it is to hot to handle about 150 deg's then quickly with a hot pan glovve the place it on th shaft and torque the prop hub to about 30 ft pounds use blue loc-tight on the threads. mine has never come loose sence doing this about 15 years back
Cheers and good luck
