With the crankshaft positioned exactly at top dead centre, the dot on the camshaft should point straight down at 6 o'clock when it is fully inserted.

If the pushrod & cam followers are still installed I'd be surprised if the camshaft came out far enough to disengage from the crankshaft.

Hope that's helpful.

I’ve put mine into a Seagull Models Ryan PT-22 Recruit.
Here’s the YouTube video of the idle.

No timing marks would suggest someone inserted the camshaft in the wrong way around.

I would check for that first.

If there is no timing mark at all (which would highly surprise me), the rocker arms should be as close to parallel as possible at TDC in the scavenging part of the cycle.

Hello all,

I am having trouble with my GF38 not pulling in fuel.
- I checked the clunk and it is clean
- I checked the carb and it is clean
- I check the two lines from the intake to the back of the case
- I checked the intake carb small vent hole alignment

Carb will only pull in fuel with the plastic liner removed from the carb and even then it is too much and floods. I only removed that to see how it would react.

Any suggestions…thanks.
