His main problem is lack of honesty !!..
Hard to say as it depends on how you read their press releases about it.

I am under the impression that Claudio's partners actually own the company now. He may still be on in a consulting role, I don't know.

Hey guys, Claudio, owner of Mintor Engines as me to post his letter.
Sincerely
Blaine Austin
owner, Top Dawg Aviation

Dear all,
my name is Claudio Magni and I am the owner of Mintor srl, I am not used to writing in forums, but since a lot of rumors have circulated about Mintor - some being correct and some being incorrect - I have felt the need to write this message to all worldwide aircraft modeling enthusiasts.

Unfortunately, during 2012 we had some technical issues which affected some areas of our production, due to incorrect supplies and some organizational flaws on our part as we were confronted with exceptional circumstances. I would like to make it clear that in spite of the peculiar circumstances which occurred in 2012, Mintor will not discontinue our production of aircraft model engines as some people have claimed. In fact, such circumstances have stimulated a radical renovation within our company.

Driven by a strong will to solve our technical and more importantly our organizational issues and to enhance our value proposition, we have stopped production almost completely over the past five months in order to focus our energy on optimizing every facet of production, strengthening our business relationship with more reliable suppliers and entirely reorganizing our business.
I believe that discontinuing production and fully restructuring the company with the cooperation of new and reliable partners was the most responsible response Mintor could have possibly given to all inadequacies of 2012.

The technical issues affecting engines have NOW BEEN COMPLETELY FIXED and through our dealers we are replacing parts under warranty for all customers who encountered noise and loss of power problems using our single-cylinder engines.
This lengthy restructuring phase is now almost complete. Production is being resumed with new quality standards.
In December 2012 a new company was established called Nuova Mintor. This company was created thanks to the involvement of new partners with over 35 years of experience in mechanics as well as to new financial resources. As a result, we have evolved from being just a manufacturing company to a much more structured business, also thanks to the establishment of new departments (design, research and development, quality control, customer service, marketing).

As a proof of this major shift, do check out our new website, which will go live in January 2013 and which you will find at our same website address as previously, www.mintor.net. You will find it to be fully revised and updated on a weekly basis.
This statement is intended to provide a fully transparent explanation and not as a piece of advertising and it was written with the aim to provide a straightforward and honest response. Thank you for your attention.

I purchased the engine directly from them with two headers (different rise) and pipe, spent around $ 1200, including shipping and import taxes. I sent the engine back to them for repair. Accordingly to the Italian post service, they should have picked up the engine and pay some duties, they never did that and the engine was sent back to my country without repair, I had to pay all the shipping charges. They had to discontinue the 170 model due to bad quality. These people (Mintor) are used to manufacture garbage products and give no support, no warranty no responsibility, no nothing. They are liars and cheaters because they deny everything that happened.

I would certainly love to see a picture of a Mintor 170 as I have never seen one, so do please oblige.
