I am looking for a small gas motor what will be in the power range of a .60 2 stroke or .90 4 stroke. I am looking at the evolution engines and the 10 cc is rated at the same hp rating as a 90 size 4 stroke. Seems wrong being the 10cc is only a .60 engine. Are the hp rating of evolution motors over stated? I am also looking at the 15cc evolution but for the same weight the dle 20 and vvrc 20 are the same weight. Pretty confused as to what route to take. I need to decide before the weekend is up being if I go evolution they are on sale.
thanks

Jeff, might help if you were to supply wing area, weight and wing span of the plane you're going with. Otherwise, for comparable power, just compare commonly used prop sizes on the engines you're considering. Not suggested prop sizes, ones guys are actually using.
The Evo 10 works good on larger .45 size, and smaller .60 size planes. How good will depend on what you're expecting from the plane. E.g. will this plane be flying more scale like, more sport, or 3D? I've found pretty good performance on planes in the 6-7lb range, with maybe 650 sq. in. wings.

My experience with the 10cc has been on the Hangar 9 Meridian and a scratch built Kaos type plane;both between 7-8 pounds.
The 10cc's fly them fine and I can perform almost any aerobatic maneuver . If you are looking for 3D ,unlimited vertical, etc.. on a 7-8 pound plane then you might want to consider the 15cc. As already mentioned it really depends on the airframe you are going to fly.
I also run the 15cc on a 90 size Cessna(stick built) and being a heavy plane it pulls it around great.
Tell us what plane you will be flying and how you want to fly it and we can better help you.

Hey thanks for the offers of help.
I have the hanger 9 katana 50. It will probably be in the 7 to 7.5 lb range and wing area of 825. I am not radical 3d pilot. I want to do imac style maneuvers and maybe some beginner 3d stuff like harriers and flat spins. Just leary of putting to much weight on the plane and having a flying rock. I am kindof leaning towards the 10cc but dont want of have this model fly like the previous katana that I had with a .70 surpass. It needed all the engine could give and mush it way up till it got some speed then it would fly ok.
thanks

I not an impulse decision maker either! Better to take your time and get as many opinions and hard data as you can . Again, my opinion, I will stick with the 10cc on the Katana for everything up to 3D. If you think you may want to venture into 3D then get the 15. The added power will overcome the little extra weight.
