Just curious. I know a lot of guys (including my self) have made the switch from 3W to another brand engine. Given what circumstances (if any) would allow you to consider using them again.
Think any one is listening

I'd like to make a comment about this entire "Poll"
First off, I've been a vocal detractor of the 3W engines, mainly because I've had more problems than I feel I SHOULD have from such an expensive and over-hyped product. All in all, though, my 150b2ss "TOC" engine is a GREAT engine, even though a DA carb block is now installed. I actually prefer this engine over my DA 150 (which I am trading for a BME even as I type this), because it runs VERY well, is VERY strong, and is lighter than the DA by 7-8 ounces. Other than the carb block problem it has never missed a beat or given me a problem associated with the engines design itself.
I am in the process of switching my entire inventory of engines over to BME 110's, or other BME's. It's not cheap, I'm trading 150's and 140's for the 110's, . . BUT, I will NOT be trading off or selling my 3W150!! And I would not take ANY other engine in trade for it. THAT is how much I like this engine. Of course I wish it was about 1.5 lbs lighter, but that's beside the point.
Would I buy another 3W? YES. Which would I prefer, a 3W 150 or a DA150? the 3W!! Is there anything wrong with the DA? Not really, but the power is down compared to the 3W's. What could 3W do to earn my business over any other brand? Lighten the entire line of engines 20-25%, quit with all the stupid Hype that is blatantly false, and get off the "more torque" line. Everyone knows it's a big crock!!
Now, as to this poll itself. . I find it offensive, biased, irritating, and an insult to the entire modelling community. It presumes that only DA and 3W exist, which is patently false, and is a slap in the face of SUPERIOR products from other manufacturers!!! (YES, I said SUPERIOR)
I intend to ask the RCU moderators to shut this thread down. It's nothing but inflammatory and strictly aimed at discrediting 3W engines and promoting DA engines over every other manufacturer in the market. That is neither fair, mature, nor intended to promote this hobby and the many fine products available to us.

Huh...Fair enough. I do apologize for the sarcasm. I have edited the poll to a more politically correct nature. I have removed the other brand name as well as it did add no value to the survey I am interested in.[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

I agree with Kris.
Otter , when you are so, how would you say... bias? you loose all credibility (not that i have not done this before), but please we all know how Gerhard and Bobby are, but that does not make the engines bad. i like both da for theircustomer service and 3w for their very strong and smooth engines. now i will give that i am not a very experienced gasser, and that i have some German blood running through my veins, but i just bought a da50 and i can not wait to get it running

I have had a number of Gas engines 3W DA BME RCS to name a few.
Other than the Carb block on the old 3W, they all are made of the same, they are as good as the person working them.
Some people a just bad with motors. I have at this time 3w -100 runs great and have DA-150 runs well and have a BME 50 run good, they from time to time need ajustment. I seen guys get mad at there motors sell them to someone else, with minor ajustments engine runs fine. Customer servive from motor to motor now there is bucket of worms.

Problem with these type of forums is that u have no idea whether you are dealing with a 12 year old. I like to use this forum to get honest unbiased info from actual users about products that I am interested in.
OTTER, I don't know if u are 12 or not but, your moniker says alot about your level of maturity.
If u feel that DA is a great engine, promote it all u want, bashing the competition reflects poorly on you, not them.
Sincerely,
Mike

Hey now... you guys seem a bit tense
Intrestingly the poll is showing more 3W support than I would have thought, but such sharp bitterness (sigh)
I actuall have owned three 3W engines. Moreover, I concure with Kris> about the 150 TOC. Mine ran pretty good also. Others...[
] So maybe this is what you were looking for luv...Overall my experiences have been poor, sorry you had to read about it.
Credibility...of what? I am not in the industry, not a pro, not sponcered by anybody, heck, I dont even fly that well. [&o]

I sympathise with Otter,
Back in the day a long long time ago..........I bought a 3w 60k which devloped all the usual 3w problems we have heard about before. The trouble was............I was not experienced enough WITH GAS MOTORS to recognize these problems for what they were........(carb block warp and bad ignition). Try as I might I couldnt get the engine to run right and it ended up costing me two airframes and endless money in shipping for repairs broken props etc. etc. Needless to say I was very unhappy with 3w and vowed never to give them my money again!!
Now..........had I been more knowledgeable at the time (knowing what I know now!!), I may have figured out the faults of the engine and perhaps managed to repair them, ending up with a fine running motor.
A lot of people who are having bad experiences with 3w sound very much like I did almost 10 years ago with my 3w60k! This is why I sypathise with Otter.
Perhaps they dont have the "experience" needed to get them run right.
Perhaps they werent lucky enough to get one that ran "straight out of the box with never a problem"
BUT lets face it................ITS NOT THEIR FAULT
If you buy something and you follow the instructions............IT SHOULD WORK
If it was a $1200 washer and dryer...............and it leaked and didnt work.............how long til Sears got the phonecall hmmmm?
IN GENERAL............
3W produce produce an excellent engine with very poor quality control that sometimes is a pain in the rear to get running right.
Give Otter a break he is probably very angry at being out of pocket and he has every right to be!!!!
Kindest regards IanB
