Default Frayed plug wire shielding

I have a ZDZ-80 with the Falken ignition and the spark plug wire braided shielding is frayed in a few spots. Is this going to cause me any problems? I haven't run it yet (bought it used) and do not have anything to put it in to test it. Thanks for the help.

If the shielding is not discontinuous I don't think you have a problem. Check it with an ohmmeter.

Small frayed areas are not a concern. Just wrap it with a protector when you put it into use to prevent further damage. Never let a plug wire touch a firewall hole edge or a metal part as the vibration will damage the insulator very quickly. Radio Shack sells wrap around wire protector/leads that work very well.

Thanks for the help guys, I was hoping I wouldn't have to replace the plug wire. Happy New Year!

There is a product you can get from your local auto parts house called Muffler Wrap. It is a two part product, the wrap material and a liquid activator you soak the wrap in the get started, cut off the amount you need, soak it in the acitvator and wrap the wire with it. Let it cure overnight and you will not have to worry about fraying the insulation again, or getting it burned on the muffler.
