should I use some flat washers on the prop bolts and so forth? The airframe is a 28% Precision Aerobatics Edge 540T also purchased from TBM. Any advice will be most appreciated

I mounted my ignition on the engine box on both my WH 28% planes. I run a 1100 mAh 4 cell AA nicad Sanyo pack for ignition. I can fly 7-15 minute flights, and have 450 mAh left in it.

olstoney,
The bolts are metric, and you don't need a very large outside diameter washer. I'm not sure, but I think I took a flat washer for a #10 bolt and drilled it out just a tad.

I have 2 DA 50 buy this year.
Put one in the Carden Cuda and other in the Yak EF
The 2 engines stop when the planes are in flat spin or blender. I thinks almost all landing where dead stick
Of course I see the gas tanks but the problem is no here
Help please. [

You know if you think about, all DA has to do is put out a notice page on their website, and that would solve half of the users issues on this forumn.
IMHO DA should track down the issue to engine numbers that way new DA 50 Customers could see to it more easily.
My DA50 should be here on tuesday or wednesday, I really hope mine wouldnt be doing any of the issues commented on this thread. As I swapped out the MVVS 45 for the DA with all the local club raving on the DA50 and knowing my luck, the last thing I would need is a buggy engine.

You will like your DA. There were a number of issues with some of the early engines ( I had one...) but DA stuck with it and the motors that have been shipping for some time are solid. Its a good product - enjoy it.

Well all I have to say is wow.... talk about power, what a major difference between the G26 Zenoah and the the DA50. But man is it noisy. Have the standard muffler in there, just sounds so sweet but noisy as hell.
Just finished one gallon the bench, another 4 to go. Just a quick question how much more till the black fudge goes, it seems to have dropped alittle at about 3/4 of a gallon on the breakin, but still plenty coming.
Using 32:1 oil mixing ratio a little rich on the H needle, turnign a 22x8 prop.
Also thinking about fitting the exhaust with a gasket or maybe use some high heat red gasket maker seal off the black fudge any comments on the subject ?

ehh it's running with a propeller plenty of air blowing on the engine, plus have a portable fan running at it at full speed just to keep things cool. Also the High needle is set on the rich side a little to keep things lubricated enough.

Put it on the plane and fly it. Gassers aren't meant to be broke in on the stand. It won't be long that nice looking cylinder will look strawberry red from over heating it..... And yes, by all means put a thin coat of high temp gasket material on the muffler and bolts before assembly. You shouldn't have any leaks around the muffler.

Okay seems like everyone says to stick it on the plane and fly with it, will do the same, am concerned with the black fudge building up on the plane, thats why I have the stand in the first place.

Mine has little black dots all over the bottom of the fuse from the Lawnboy ashless oil. I think that this is normal until you go with a the synthetic oil (with less oil) after you are all broken in. Also mine runs really rich which also contributes to the mess. I will have to tune it better in spring. It's in the hanger for the winter. So I'd just clean up the bottom of the fuse for now.

Just a note on this subject, the amount of black sut coming out is not little dots I mean, it's really alot, from just running one tank, it could be related to the oil choice, since I dont have access to lawn boy ashless over here I decided to break in the engine using the zenoah oil, I might switch to arnold lawn mower oil and see if there is any difference in the amount that comes out.
Also spekaing of oils has anyone tried yamaha 2T oil, am looking for the mobile 2T but did not find anything so far close to it nor even the ones that are mentioned in the manual, can anyone just reply with the the oil contents they are using see if I can find a close match to it.
