Get yourself a Zenoah G26 0r G23 and have Ralph Cunningham, (RCIgnitions) convert it to electronic ignition and lighten the engine for you.

That's the way to go, but then again I'm biased towards Zenoahs, not mention Ralph's work.

Karolh....Ijust had Ralph build me an Zenoah G62 "Super Lite" Weighs only 4.1 with ignition and engine mount.

Check out the BCMA 26 cc engine seen [link=http://www.bcmaengines.clearwire.net/BCMASPE.htm]here[/link] . Weight is 38 ounces. I just got mine. Haven't started her up yet, but its a great little engine.
Otherwise, check out the RCS 140 or 180 or the Roto 25 from RC Showcase. They are pretty light too, but also cost about $300 more when all is said and done.

I had Ralph convert my G26. It lost a full pound.

My Ralph converted G23 weights 2.5 lbs with ignition and mount, and runs like a raped ape. Have a stock G45 that is scheduled to go to him for some of his magic. I seen pictures of Ralph's latest endeavour the the G62 lite that look simply amazing.

If you are looking for a good 25cc engine, check out Brillelli engines. I have one of their 46cc Poulan conversions and am about to buy one of their 25cc Toro conversions. I go el cheapo on some engines and these folks have very workable engines at unbeatable prices.

I own five Zenoah, three BME, one Brison, one Quadra, three MVVS gas, one Revolution gas and two USE engines, so I'm not prejudiced one way or the other.

The Brillelli mag engine in 25cc is lighter than a stock G23 or G25. These can also be had in electronic ignition versions which are lighter still and at very reasonable prices.

I'm not trying to take business away from Ralph, as though that could be done - P-shaw! He does great work too. It is nice to know what our options are. I just bought a BME G90 conversion and am wondering how it would stack up against a stock G23/26. Model glow engines are generally in a much higher state of tune than utility gas engines. They may not be as far off in power as the relative displacements would imply.

Put a Mejzlik 18-6 on it and see if it will turn 9000 rpm...
About that 1 ounce battery, I found a 600 NiMh somewhere that was 1.5 oz...I thought a smaller one would be lighter, but can't find one...Pretty close

You must be talking about a G38 for those RPM's on that prop

How about a G23 turning an APC 17x6 at 9300 rpm.

To me that sounds like a tach made by the same people as the Thrust HP program. I would have to see it to believe it. That would put the HP just a hair under 3hp. Now I really doubt it. Unless you happen to have a bottle of nitrous hooked to it

I don't know if Ralph will recall what rpm it turned his 18x6 test prop after his conversion, but it was quite impressive. My engine has been cross checked by other high end tachs to verify it's performance, and I simply richen the high end to read 9,000 and fly.

It must have more done to it than just EI. I am sure with port work a 23 could do it. Just not stock with nothing more than EI.

Sorry Poco, but ALL the G26s I have converted tach at least 8800 out of the box, some a little higher....I use a TNC tach, you have a better one ?...Mejzlik 18-6 prop, altitiude 6800 feet, 32-1 fuel..Timing is 28 BTDC..I put a Mac's Products pipe on one and got 10,000....Tried one in Phoenix, altitude 1000 feet, same result, 17+ lbs pull on the tail wheel...
These numbers have been verified by many of the customers, some have more than one engine...
FWIW, the ThrustHp chart shows 25+ lbs thrust..
A G38 runs about the same with that prop...a Conversion does nothing to make them run better..They run the same unconverted, just heavier...

I aasume you are talking about a carbon fiber prop, correct? Never tried one but I heard they spin faster than a wood or nylon. It does supprise me because Horizon claims 8900 on an APC 16x8. An 18x6 would have a lot more load, even though the pitch is less. I may just have to pick up one of those props

Yes, they do, and the Mejzlik 18-6 seems to be exactly the right combination for the engine...
But for $37 plus shipping most guys will use another prop will a little less thrust and rpm...
Not a lot of difference between a 16-8 and an 18-6 except the 18-6 has more thrust because of the diameter..
My TNC tach has the little button on the side to expand the reading to within 10 rpm..[8D]
Karolh has a stock, nice and loose G23...TKG says he has one that runs even a little better..
The G23 sold for helicopters a while back had the same cylinder as the G26, same ports and timing but a little less bore..I tried one of those, got the same rpm...I think all the heli engines that Horizon sells are now G26s...

I have one of Ralph's converted G26's. (at or under 3lbs if memory serves) Mine turns that mejz 18x6 at over 9000rpm and has over 17lbs of static thrust. This is with a digital fish scale and not a thrust calculator.
Ralph recommended the mejz 18x6, and like a fool I went out and bought about 8 or 10 props trying to find the best. By far the mejz 18x6 out pulled all other props. The range (if I remember right) was from 13+lbs to 17++lbs static.

I stand corrected. I will have to buy one of those props so I know what I am talking about One nice thing about this hobby. You never stop learning.

Where is a good place to pick up that prop. I should have bought one in Toledo. I looked at DA and they are $45 plus shipping.

OOPS..Last one I bought was $37..Just called DA, the price of carbon went up so the price of the props did too....
I'm looking at having some wood props made, maybe one will work as good a a Mejzlik...

That is the biggest problem with that prop, it's EXPENSIVE. Especially when you brake both blades off of it. Didn't even hardly twist the crank, almost within factory spec's, RCIGN1 trued it up for me.

I am still going to get one. I want to see what my engine does on it. I don't think it will match the G26, but should be close. We will see. If it helped the Homelite as you said, the Toro's I build should out do that little tank by far. I know on an APC 16x8 there is a large gap between my Toro and the Homey 25.

Oh, If you want EI from TommyRC you will need to contact Adam at BCMA engines. He is going to be a dealer on it. That may be why he is not answering you. I think the cost will be higher than $40 though. I am sure the $40 price didn't include shipping from China.

Tomyrc replied to one Email with the price, then no more replies when asked about payment...The shipping would surely have been higher..
PK is making me a few different shape 18-6 test props...His 18-6 now turns lots less than a Mejzlik, but if they work out the price will be friendly

Wasn't looking to be a dealer or copy it, just wanted to test one to maybe use with my conversions..My parts alone cost more than $40...And my labor is free
