I got this engine on a trade. I hope someone can tell me what this engine is. The owner had no use for it and really I don't either. I am into much smaller planes and engines. Thanks for your help.

The only thing on the cylinder is:

MAHLE
44ZN 18

CARBURATOR: WALBRO

Default ???

How about a Sachs 3.2. Looks like an A&M. You have the ignition, but the engine is missing the timing ring on the front.

It's an old A&M Sachs 3.2..The ignition sensor is missing from under the hub...Take the single bolt adapter off the hub and look at the crankshaft...If it's smooth on the end it's not a Sachs crank...Some worked well, some not so well...A Sachs crank is a direct replacement..(But $$$$) .....
Hello, TKG..
A&M was the only manufacturer to paint the top of the cylinder....

I just bought the same engine. However, the top of the cylinder is not painted. The markings are the same. The ignition has "A&M Aircraft/Sachs".

This is the first time I have owned anything other than glow engines. I have no idea when this engine was last run. I do not know what ratio oil/gas to run. Any help will be appreciated. Can anyone tell me how to test the ignition or purchase a new ignition?

One last question, does anyone know where I can find any specs for this engine?

Plug the battery and sensor into the circuit..Lay the spark plug against the cylinder and turn the engine past Top dead center..the plug should spark..
Specs...Bore 1.73, stroke 1.34..Made from a Sachs model 111 or 115 chainsaw with a machined case by A&M...Look at the con rod..If it's copper color it's a Sachs, if it's not it was made by A&M...
Mix the oil at whatever the oil manufacturer says, usually 32 or 50-1 ....
