Old A&M 4.2
RCIGN1, You had a post on how to tell if the crank and rod on this engine was made by A&M or SACHS. I have not been able to find it please repost.

RE: Old A&M 4.2
Look in the hub, if the crank has a small centering hole it's a Sachs, the A&M will be flush...The con rod on a Sachs crank is copper plated, the A&M is not....
VERY early A&Ms used the Sachs crank...A 4.2 MKII has the cantilever crank made by A&M..

RE: Old A&M 4.2
Never saw a broken one, usually what happens is the big end bearing on the rod goes out...They were an exact copy of the Sachs crank and rod, so if it goes out you can find a Sachs crank and the engine will live forever....
