Hello,
I'm setting up my first electronic ignition engine, a Brillelli 40cc.
Can I use a heavy duty Futaba switch harness to operate the E.I.'s battery?
This switch's packaging says "For digital servos".
No idea if it's any different than Futaba's regular heavy duty switch, but thought I'd ask.
If I'm asking for trouble, please let me know.
Brillelli's web site is down at the moment, or I'd have asked them.
Thanks.

A switch is a switch. It must pass power in one position and cut it off in another. The ignition unit doesn't know or care who it's made by or what it was originally designed for as long as it does the basics and passes current.

In general, the Futaba stuff that's listed as being for "digital servos" is the heavier gauge wire and components to handle a higher current flow. If you look at servo extensions from Futaba for digital servos and the standard extension side by side, it's pretty easy to see the larger diameter wire in the digital servo lead.

"Yes" .... but to what ?? Can he use it, or, is he asking for trouble. Ha ha, just playing the fool here. That's as good a switch to use as any.

?Check out this switch... I love it. Anything with a life-time warranty is great in my book. Been using this for years and it has been flawless. I now have the 1 with the LED... kept me from leaving the ignition on once now... friggen scatterhead.

The original question was would what he had work. You have to agree that it most definately would. It would also be among the "pretty good" selection of switches. Not the best, not the worst. He never asked us if the switch he possessed was the best one. You have to agree, that opens far too many doors and opinions...

One of the very best switches (IMO) is no longer being made...It was Japanese, Noble brand..They had 2 sets of sliding contacts with little ball bearing detents...Came with Kraft and Proline radios...
Ah the good old days...Those 2 radios were the best also...

I still have my first Kraft 4 channel Ralph, never gave me any problems. The last time I tried it before I pulled the batteries out it still worked[8D]
To answer the question,, I have used that very switch. Not the ultimate, but not the worst, still running after many flights and a mishap.

That very same type switch came with my Hobby Shack's 4 ch. Aero Sport radio system way back in 1977 and is still going strong....both radio and switch.
