BME 115 Question

Those with a BME 115, have you seen it next to a DA 100/3W 106? I am curious how much farther down the carb hangs than a DA/3W. I would like to get a measuement from the center of the spark plug boot or center of crank to the bottom of the carb, if that makes sense

You'll need to obtain the dimensions of both in inches or millimeters from those that have one or the other. I don't know if you'll be able to get RTK to pop the cowl off his right now or not. The difference was not that great based upon simple observations. The DA has a pretty deep block under it too, but not quite as deep as the 115.

Ok thanks, I have the measurements from the DA/3W, its about 115.5mm, now I need to know about the 115. I want to run the 115, but not if its going to stick out of the cowling a bunch.

Just eye balling it, I would say about 5+inches from the center of the crank to the end of the carb. In my comp-art extra it just barley clears the the bottom of the cowl with out touching. Plug cap to plug cap appears to be about 11 inches. The next time I pull the cowl off I will let you know.

Worst case guess I could order it through Dons Hobby shop if he is still selling them at least, but kind of silly considering BME is about 30 miles from my house.

The question has not yet been decided/answered or tested on the Falcon being better or worse, that I know of.

Ok thanks, isnt the C&H lighter? I guess it might be easier to get service on the C&H with it being here in the states. It looks like the 115 is going to work on my project, so plan on ordering one.

My experience is that the CH unit is the best on the market. Period. There's evidence to support this but it can't be shared. The CH unit is more expensive, so one should not be surprised to see a final cost difference with that ignition.
For me the difference in cost for superior performance is not great enough not to make a difference in the end. There can be nothing worse than any ignition type deciding to take a dump when you're in a hover or at the start of a competition after a long drive. I run my ignitions regulated to 5.1 or 5.2 volts, whatever is the lowest number the regulator will take. They are noted in the instructions to be operated at 4.8 volts, but I've not ever heard of an issue at close to 5. I don't have a clue about the weight. Any differences are not large enough to have an impact for me.

If that was a question, the answr is yes. It may be necessary to go to either Cheifs or Dons Hobbies at the moment because the first production run is pretty much distributed out. BME may still have a few to sell direct, but calling or an e-mail would verify that. If BME is out, try the two hobby shops. Chiefs ordered a bunch of them, and Don's should still have a few.

You'll have to pay tax on it if you buy it local--right?
I'd order it and pay the $15 shipping. That will be less than the taxes on a $1000+ engine.
Just an idea. I hate paying taxes. This hobby is expensive enough as it is. With the bills I rack up sometimes, the taxes are 3 or 4 times the shipping if I just order it from out of state.
