I measured the outlet tubes before cutting and they both were .498, after removing a 1/4" they were .680 for a difference of .182
Will I see a difference? Who knows.
I have several minor things left to finish on the plane so I wont be able to fly until next week, and thats if the snow melts.
At this point I'm more concerned with the entire package than a few hundred rpm as the plane is gaining more weight than anticipated. Was shooting for 15 lbs or less but now it seems 15.5 lbs will be the finished weight.
Should still be fun though.

I got to run my new ZDZ 50 for the 1st time today. I left the needles at the factory settings. I ran 1gal through it and got 6750 rpm using 22x8 Biela prop and Bison muffler.
It’s probably because I’m new to gas but I had some problems starting it. Even when it was worm it would need about 75% of choke. Otherwise it wouldn’t start.
Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?
Thanks,
Ralph P

I really don't think so guys....What are you all trying to accomplish here...If Dave at Desert says it will turn a 22x10 Menz at 7100rpm does not mean it will turn that exact Rpm where you happen to live....Its going to change depending your location...Yeah it might or will turn that in Arizona where they are run before shipping so I think bagging DA is not cool...
Just because it won't turn the 7100 rpm does not mean you have to go out and buy a ZDZ! Yeah there is going to be a huge difference with mufflers depending on which one you use so thats opinionated also...If RPM is so important to you guys its really not..Ask Dave about RPM and he will tell you that its not all about Rpm its about how well the motor pulls with what prop and airplane combo you have...

Biela props are hand made in Poland. I got some at one of the dealers there.
I’m going back in 2 weeks and will bring some more with me.
The only US distributor that I know of is Aircraft International Inc. at http://www.aircraftinternational.com
He's really a nice and knowledgeable guy.
Thanks,
Ralph

update on BCM muffler.....
I cut 1/4'' off the exhaust tubes and gained 300 rpm with the Pro-zinger 22X10. Haven't tested the other props. Not to concerned as the plane came out at 16lbs and the DA pulls it around with ease.

Any Update on the DA-50 horsepower debate? I want one in a bad way, but if it's no more powerful than my Brison 3.2 and only 4oz lighter, then I don' t think it's worth it. It sure is a beauty, but it doesn't seem to be Class leading in power, or weight, just looks.

BBriBro , an answer to your ?. My DA 50 is on a DP Extra 330. At 16 lbs 1oz dry 22x10 Mejzlic prop. The engine has enough reserve to rocket stright up from a hover . It will also pull up from a deep tail slide whithout hesitation, this requires much more power than recovery from a hover. This will put a smile on any ones face!
Falcon my DA 50 is turning the Mejzlic 22x10 at 6900 rpm.

I agree that the engine is merely a new addition to the 50cc
category. Once the newness buzz wears off something new will come out. The newer versions of the Brison are much lighter than the origional editions. Look better too. I am not that fond of installing the rear induction carbs.

I just don't see where the DA50 is as strong as it was pumped up to be, don't get me wrong I am not bad mouthing it, I have a 100 and can't be happier with the performance or the customer service but I just have not seen any numbers on the DA50 that live up to all the hype the was put out on the motor, hell I got a Taurus52 that turned that turn that same 22/10 7300 on the first tank of gas, It is now on it's third gallon and turning an MSC 22/10 at 6900 tached right after a 15 min flight hot. I don't think I will be getting one just to have one. Sure is pretty though ?

BrianB & schmacka,
That's exactly what I have been trying to ask a lot of guys.
Chris from Extreme Flight RC recommends the DA-50 for his new line of aircraft. I just wanted to know how a Brison 3.2 will do on these machines.
Are the DA-50/ZDZ-50 so much better in performance than the so called "chainsaw converted" engines like the Brison 3.2/Taurus 52.
I don't think so and we need to debunk this myth.
BTW: I am not bashing engines and like all of them equally. In fact I want to have ALL of them
Cheers.
