Having no choke will not affect the running of your engine, it will only make hand starting that much harder. Several carbs do come without chokes and just a thumb closing the carb's intake during a couple flips of the prop (with the ignition OFF) is usually enough to get gas to the engine.
However, if you use an electric starter you should have no problems in starting your engine without choking it.

Having no choke per se will not keep you from running the engine. What you did not say was what lead up to the loss of the choke. If it was lost due to something like crash damage then there is always a possibility that other things have also happened that could affect successful operation.
If it just fell apart and fell off then plug the holes where the shaft for the butterfly passes thru the carb body abd choke it with your appropriate digit.
If it is the sliding plate type then just use that digit.

Hi thanks for that,it was my fault for forcing the choke around to meet the servo horn as i had fitted a remote pushrod to meet this but i forced it too far "dur",i could kick myself for doing this,so i am trying to locate a stockist for spare parts, but i am finding a stockist very hard to come by.

Sorry to hear of your demise, but have you tried the source that you purchased the engine from for the parts that you require. This might be a case of water under the bridge, but it is always best to deal with persons or buy items from whom both spares and assistance are readily available, as you never know when such an eventuality will rise up to bite you.

I have owned several gas engines over the years that didn't have chokes. As noted, a thumb over the carb intake (with the ignition off) for a couple rotations (till your thumb is wet) is all that it takes. Note- you need not flip the prop during this process. A brisk rotation is all you need with a good pumper carb, on most engines. This may require an addition hole in the cowl for this purpose.

There has to be someone near where you live that fixes small engines. All mechanics keep boxes of old carbs and every other type of part for that matter. Probably get it fixed for less than 10.00 that way. Might evan be able to get a good used replacment carb. If you are not using a velosity stack you can make a choke out of a thin flat piece of steel or plastic. Drill it to rotate on 1 of the carb screws to cover the intake. Hook it up with a pushrod to operate inside the cowl. make it spring loaded to stay open in flight.
