Well I hate to be the one... but a simple click of the search button and Air Hobbies will return a ton of posts... mostly bad and ugly.

They have a good piston and cylinder, at least before they covered it with the red stuff. If it has that monster muffler/mount combination, throw it away, and you can shed a ton of weight, and grief.

TLH101, I did do a search and found very little about the engine. Sinergy, I plan to take that thing off but do you know if it will run
well once the muffler has been changed.

Thanks guys
Jeff

I think RCU has limited the search function. It does not work to well anymore.
The engine is based on a Sachs Dolmar (now Makita Dolmar) chainsaw/cutoff saw, engine piston and cylinder, which are very good quality. Brison, Fox, FPE, and others all use the same components. I can't say about the crankshafts, though there have been builders in the past that just could not get them right. I have read of problems with ignition systems on the motors, but don't remember exactly what the problems were. Get a good muffler for a 3.2, don't use soft mounts, and you should have a good engine. Will turn props in the 20x10, 22x8, 22x10 range.

I know nothing about that engine but I have a 3.2 FPE which is the same engine block assembly, I think. My FPE is two years old runs flawlessly on a SIG Sundancer bi-plane. It turns 7260rpm with a 22X8 PT Models CF prop.

The cylinder and piston are fine.. the rest is a joke.. tolerances are way off the mark and their ignitions suck.

Use the search and click advanced and type in Air Hobbies should return a lot

Here will save you the work... search function works fine if it's used properly http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/sear...mitbutton=+OK+
