No, not unless you buy an addon its a gear reducer with a large cone on the top.

I don't know where you get them ( don't use them) however the complete package is normally around $150 or so.

I amsure someone will know a link

John,
Pacific Aero has geared starters at reasonable cost. The claim to handle up to 35cc glow. I have one and use it with a jump start for extra torque. Here is the link.

They are out there. I was having problems with my Evolution 45 last week and some guy had a big starter that used a car battery. It worked great.

My Miller Persuader on a standard Sullivan starter running on 24 volts will start my BME 100 easily
Look in RC Report for the address for Miller. They don't have a web site

I've stood right there while a friend used a high end battery powered drill motor with a starter cone attached to start his 3w55. It CAN be done. The old Sullivan Dynatron will handle most 26 to 28cc engines, but above that you need something with a little more torque. They used to make a Megatron for gassers. Check it out.

I used to start Quadra Q35 engines with a standard Sullivan Starter that used a car battery for power. The battery is more important than which starter you are using.

Yes.

I use a Magnum geared starter with 2 7-cell 3800mah NiMH car packs wired in series. Starts Zenoah G20, Fugi BT32, DA50, Moki 2.10, Saito R325 Radial with no problems. Lightweight, portable, totally self-contained with no car/motorcycle/tractor/etc battery to lug; no battery acid to spill, no cables with clips/plugs to mess with and get mixed up in props. Can fast charge at the field if necessary (seems like lots of other club members like to use it also). Have been using this setup for 5 years and have only upgraded the battery packs once (this year).

Works for me.

You need a nice Dewalt 14v cordless drill anyway don't ya? The 14v drill lasts as long as the 18v but is not as bulky. That and a starter cone (the large one) from Tower and you are all set.

Why bother?

One of the many reasons I went to gas is to eliminate the starter/igniter complex.

OTOH, my $35 'Heli-Max' starter will fire a DA 50 all day long. It has been used to 'un-flood' a DA 50 when all available arms were spent. Have never tried it on a 100, but I doubt it.

I have a Miller 24v started, it's tough to use, makes starting a two man job. Since I switched to EI I don't need a starter I hand flip everything. My buddy's been flying Ryobi's for 10 years , he nearly fainted when I one flipped my Ryobi to life.
This is the IE I'm using:

I've converted 3 Ryobi's, Brison(sp?), and a Sachs they all run and start great. I've got a 100cc Quadra and a Fuji64a I'm going to convert next.

Yep starting a big engine is a two man job. I use the starter on my EI motors. Its just easier and safer

I got a Cermark starter, it's a 5 to 1 reduction, actually a small motor but I use it to start my Quadra 50 with no problems at all, think if you look in the Cermark cataloge the starter is 30 some bucks..... Works for me.....
