DA50 midrange and transition question

Hi,
This is my first gasser airplane that I got as a bargain from a good friend (1000$ for airplane, DA50, servos, batteries) and the engine right now have more than 50 flights (53 to be exact) so the brake in period is over. The problem is that when I give one, two or three clicks of throttle (if radio stick is below half travel) the engine sounds very erratic and it just accelerates with big movements on the throttle stick, as this is my first gasser I don´t know if it is normal for DA gas engines to have such a bad midrange and transition (very hard to belive).
My friend told me that we could lean the engine but that will affect the life of the engine. He is a good person but as far as I know he is not an engine expert and want to ask here to be sure if I should get used to it or if we need to lean the engine.
I have flown airplanes with Quadra engines and they do not act like this DA50 so I doubt this engine should act in this way.

Tuning the engine properly is likely to be the solution and it will not harm the engine. Leaving it too rich like that will certainly harm the engine (carbon build up, fouled plugs). Also it will make for some really frustrating flying. I'd lean the low needle until the transition is satisfactory.

After the engines is properly tuned, lean the low for good transition and every time you tune the low needle you will also need to tune the high for peek RPM and then backed out to drop a 100 RPM, you may need to implement a throttle curve.
I do not own a DA but have a 26 Evo, a 43 Fuji and 50 DL and they all needed some exponential on the throttle channel to make the curve linear. If it’s a Futaba radio start with negative 20% expo and go up or down until the curve is to your liking. If it’s a JR you need to start with positive expo.

Just got back from the field a few hours ago after tweaking my needles for optimum midrange/transition on an old Brison 3.2 with a brand new carb. Burble is almost negligable except at very high idle, transition is nice and smooth and it still starts rather easily which works for me

Thanks to all for the imput, next weekend I´ll do what you all suggest about the adjustment to the carb.
