Make sure you get those on the website as fast as you can. There's bound to be someone that will look and if not there be raising some cain about the lack of info...

Henry
Ralph did some testing on this engine (Aerovat 20) and it produced some very respectable numbers. Hows 8200rpm on a Mejzlik 16x8 sound? I know of a bunch of 26cc engines that won't do that.

Hey Super08....
I sold him the engine a couple of months ago..... and it is a side carburetor too.. Still good numbers...The factory has been tweaking the engine too.
The rear carb is much stronger from the testing I have been doing too!

All of us are getting our eyes opened with these little fella's

Okay, Henry...time for me to ask....in this economy, important question....

What ARF Aerobats are out there that this little 20cc would be "perfect" on? Not 3D....just decent toss around aerobatics.

Henry - what about one of these, or is this too much airframe?

Hey Bob

LOVE that question..... hahahha... if you were at Toledo... A lot of guys were looking for the same answers as you.
T3Beatz put a 20cc on a PROFILE.. awesome video....

[link=http://www.zrcgf.com/pages/Videos.cfm]20cc Videos[/link]

Tomorrow, I am picking up a GP Shoestring.... I gonna put that 20cc rear into her! Should be a lot of fun....
Here is one of the neat aspects of going to Toledo or for that fact any of the trade shows.. I get to talk to a wide range of modelers. At Toledo, I spoke to a LOT of glow engine fella's just getting into gas. The discussions were interesting.

For example... the fella's flying the 100 ci glow engines are saying that the gas engines are a little heavier. You should see their eyes when I tell them that in fact... using gas will mean a lighter plane... Their heads turn and they are ready for battle!!! hahahahahah...

I see the power plant as a system... Engine, accessories, fuel tank. The glow guys (and I am talking .90 ci+) will use tanks that are 16 ounces +... some will use less but that is a good average. I tell them that a 20cc will use a 4 ounce tank for a good 15 minute run.. but use a 6 ounce tank if you feel squeemish about that...

So I have saved the guys 6 ounces + just in fuel weight savings. Plus I gave them a lot more room aft of the firewall to put in their ignition system and batteries. Of course each plane will be different.

I would be really interested in hearing what suggestions the other fella's could bring to this discussion.

Cheers
Henry

Hey Bob

KMP has an excellent lineup of airplanes. In fact they are a dealer for me. The Aerovate 26cc is their recommended engine for lots of the war birds. We sold a couple of dozen engines over the weekend along with the kits.

They have a BF-110 (twin engine fighter) that will fit the 20cc's. They have a Christen Husky (80 in wing, 8 pounds) that would do well with the engine also. With so many kits in their lineup the selection is rather large.

The 20cc is doing well as a replacement for the glow .70 ci to 1.20 ci - airframes out there in the marketplace.

Cheers

Henry

At 1 mile above sea level and with a 15X8 T/F wood prop I'm only getting roughly 8200 rpm's (8350 15X6 APC) on break in mixture on the 20cc. I spent about 2 hours today in from of my house tuning then running up and down the road. (glad my neighbors enjoy these things as much as I do) I think what happened with the scraping noise I heard was I think I got it hot on my last run, the temp had gone from about 38*F to about 68*F. That and I was about 3hrs to lean on the top end adj. No more noise and this thing transitions smooth as butter now and idles like a sleeping kitty. Think I will try a 14X8 APC tomorrow to see if I get closer to the rpm range it should be. Just hope the weather holds out a little longer.. I'm so ready for summer to be here..

Henry, the 20cc also seems to be the right size as well. I know 3 guys at our field are going to be ordering for the 60 size warbirds soon. They are amazed at how powerful this little motor is, even compared to the other popular 20cc on the market. It's light weight, size, and price are very appealing. I simply tell them to come here and read. No problems other than what I had but it was an easy mistake to make for a noob. (myself included [sm=tongue_smile.gif]) Can't wait for the Mrs. to tell me I can put one in her Corsair to replace the tired old Saito.

I guess each engine has a mind of its own... I'm getting about 8500rpms with my APC 16x6 with 32/1 lawnboy right now. I have about 1.5 gallons through it so far. Its a little monster in the air!LOL... Everyone at my field wants one, They are jealous of the money I save over the glow fuel. No starters, no glow plugs, No mess, just fuel it up, turn it on and go flying.

There is a wide range of aircraft that this engine will work in, sport, 3d, and warbird... some might need a few mods here and there but thats the fun part!

Bob,

I'm not 100 % sure I'm putting mine on my Corsair yet , if I don't I'm thinking about have my LHS orde me a .90 Seagull Yak. You could go with A Wild Hare baby Edge they recommend a 26CC on it.

That's a good looker!! I'm guessing the 20cc is suited for the 700 Sq in, 7-lb range of birds? Is that what most are thinking to get good performance?

I'm guess ing around 7 - 9 lbs depending on the plane. My Frenzy weighs in @ 7lbs 2 oz with a Saito 1.25, should have enough power .

Piston Thanks for listening about the throttle lincage.

Andy I saw the Segull Yak in Toledo. It is a Good Looking plane.I made a u-turn to check it out.I hope it isn't as heavy as my Laser. It seems to be a little smaller.

Thanks to everyone that helped me with my balance point. If I did it right and I think I did. The balance point came out to about an inch back from where it was. It just so hapened to fall on the spar. Made up a Venessa Rig to balance it with. Works Great
Weather bad here tomorrow so we will fire it up on Saturday.

Haven't seen one of those used in a long while. They work quite well for balancing larger planes too.

Its not the lightest in the world but my Laser felt heavy.

Specs
Wingspan:63.4 in (161cm)
Overall Length:61.4 in (155.9cm)
Wing Area:846 sq in (55 sq dm)
Flying Weight:8.4-9.9 lbs
Engine Size:.91-1.25 2- or 4-stroke
Radio:6 channels
Servos:6 servos

If the G23 could pull the Laser, this little 20CC should do fine. I still have the book on the G23. It states on the cover that it is a blower motor with a radial mount for RC use. I don't mind the weight as long as the plane is a little sturdy. I've had a couple of planes that couln't take grass that was not groomed well. I'll find out in the morning about the Stik, I'm going to pick it up. If all is good I'll have the 26CC getting a little ground run time, maybe air time this week. The only props I have at the moment are Zingers. I got a bunch of goodies in a package deal and there were a few < dozen > props one was a 16x8 , the other was a 18x6-10. They should be good to get the engines running. I have a 16.5x5W I could try on the 20 just to see how the load is.

Andy

Would it be possible to post a pic of your engine with that pitts on it from looking direct at the prop bolt from the front?
Does it stick out past the head any opposite the exhaust port side?
Also, what is the diameter of the can?

Hi Henry

I have been through this thread and I know the info I want is here somewhere but I give up.
Could you please tell me if I can remove the throttle spring or what I need to do to reduce the tension?, as my servo will have a hernia if I leave it like it is plus I want my rx to last more than an hours flyng .

I have the RCGF 50 single with the rear carb.

Also own the 20 and 26 rear carb versions will the same apply to them as the springs on them seem very strong as well.

Don't remove the spring completely, just disconnect it...

Snip off the "hook" that hangs onto the plate mounted on the shaft.

Bob, are you referring to the throttle plate or butterfly in the carb?
