Default Fuel tank siphoning help

Have my fuel tank mounted higher than the carb. bottom of tank is probably 3" higher than the carb. Siphoning bad enough that the gas is dripping out the carb and floods the engine as soon as it is primed so I can't get it to fire unless I take the plug out and dry it off.

any ideas how to eliviate this?
can't mount the tank any lower than it is and the engine is mounted inverted.
the fuel line runs straight out of the tank down to the carb

I thought that since the carb had a pump in it and a needle then it should not allow fuel to run thru it unless it is getting pulses from the crankcase.

If this is a gasser with a Walbro carb, you have a carb problem, not a tank problem. Gassers tolerate high or low tanks very well and gas can not siphon through the carb if all is right in the carb. The most common cause of this problem is an improperly installed regulator diaphram that is holding the needle off the seat allowing gas to leak through the carb. Depending on the carb model, you could either have the diaphram installed with the gasket on the wrong side of the diaphram or in some carbs, the needle fork has to attach to a slot on a nub in the center of the diaphram. If positioned on top of the nub rather than in the slot, a leaky needle is almost guaranteed. Another cause could be a bad needle or seat or trash in the needle. Usually when this problem is present, you have to have the H and L needles screwed in more than normal just to get the engine to run.

you might be right on that one. was wondering why this was never a problem in the past on other planes..........
carb rebuild might be in order.although, when I test ran this engine in a stand it ran fine

it is a Walbro carb.
Matter of fact you hit it right on. The one time I did get it to run (very briefly) was setting the needles around one turn out. Once it caught it wouldn't stay running at one speed. Was all over the place.

Will order up a carb kit tomorrow
