Default RE: MT 35 Looks Like a Winner

Two questions..

1. How much space is needed from the firewall to the Prop hub for proper operation?  I have an GP Ultra Sport 1000, and might consider this engine if it would fit in the eng. compartment. I have about 150 mm (5 7/8") from firewall to the end of the cowl. I have about 3/16" between end of cowl and spinner backplate. I really wouldn't want the spinner to stick out anymore, as it would look kinda silly with a much larger gap than that!!!

which leads to Q2. Has anyone mounted this engine in an US 1000?  is it too much engine, or good combo?

BTW, how does everyone like these engines??  Happy with them?

Any input is appreciated..

Thanks, Craig.

According to Tommy said that he want to offer the pitts muffler one year warranty and performance guarantee. The pitts muffler as pictures. How do you guys think about that?

It is pretty and I believe its wrap around configuration will generate some interest. In the pictures it appears to have a small expansion chamber and large exhaust pipes which I suppose is good for performance. For my flying fields it has to have some muffling capability and not be just another small noisy exhaust diverter.

Looks "pretty". What price? Would Valley View carry it? Others?

Walbro WT805 carb and fiberglass reed valve for the MT-35? Are they hardware or "vaporware"? Still waiting availability as the summer flying weather rolls along.[]

The carb is actually "Hardware". I got an e-mail from Jody yesterday in response to my request to purchase the carb.

He told me to give him a call and he will process the order.

My quest for the elusive WT805 carb.

7/1/2010 sent a PM to Jody asking about the carb and reeds with the intent to buy. Got no reply.

7/12/2010 On page 14 in Post #334 in response to one of Jody's posts I asked if he sells the WT805 carb and reeds separately. Got no reply.
I respect whatever his reasons are for not answering and decided that I shouldn't make a nuisance of myself.

7/15/2010 On page 14 in Post #335 MT Engines showed pictures of version 2 of the MT-35 with 805 carb, fiberglass reed and 4-bolt hub.

7/15/2010 Sent E-Mail to Tomy of Mtengines asking for prices and ordering instructions for the WT805 carb with arms and manual choke and reed.

7/15/2010 Same day he replied and gave me the price for the complete upgrade package which includes the 4-bolt hub and the price for just the carb with the reed thrown in free. Then he told me to contact Jack to place the order.

7/20/2010 Sent E-Mail to Jack to place order for the upgrade package. Got no reply.

7/22/2010 Called Jack on telephone to place the order and he told me to send him an e-mail and he would send me an order form. I told him to check his e-mail because I'd already sent the list of items that I wanted and he has my e-mail address. He said he would do so. Then he tells me that they don't have the parts because the shipment has been delayed. Good grief!

7/23/2010 Jack sent me an e-mail and apologized for the delay in replying to my e-mail. He also explained that the 4-bolt hub is not a plug-in kind of upgrade and that I should send the engine to their service center or at least call their service center to find out the best way to do the upgrade.

Today I'm back where I started, patiently waiting. Well, kind of patiently waiting.

All I really want is the carb and reed, not the 4-bolt hub. I should be more resourceful and find these parts on my own because the carb is certainly not specific to the MT-35 and it can be found on 50cc engines of other brands.

Tired!

Give Jody a call. I called him yesterday, placed my order and the carb is on its way to me now.

Jody even offered to repair my current carb if I wanted to save some money.

The man provides excellent customer service.

I see the big bore is on the MT site now. I wish Ihad another ES pipe to run on the MT. Would be interesting to see what it will do with the big bore carb and the pipe.

I think I like the single nut hub better, this is the V2.

The pitts muffler gain 300rpm on MT35 to compare with the stock muffler. The noise is also less much than stock muffler

Agreed,

All I wanted to see was the propshaft diameter increased to 10mm where the prop mounted. The threaded portion of the shaft could have stayed at 8mm if that made Tomy happy.

Novayusa,

Good to hear you're getting an increase in rpm with your pitts muffler.

You posted in the RC Guys Super Decatholon thread it had a scored cylinder and piston. Did Jody replace those too?

IF YOU DON"T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SCRATCH AND SCORING, BE MORE CAREFUL ABOUT POSTING INCORRECT INFORMATION, AND TURN CAPS LOCK OFF
