RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker
mRqS,
The ZDZ 40 will be a great engine for it. It will also keep you from having to cut holes in the cowl.
I really like your Decathlon. I just sold my Spacewalker and am thinking about building a Decathlon. What did you think of yours?

My Decathlon was very easy to build. There were some modifications I did during construction according to information on RC Universe and RCGroups:
-landing gears reinforcement
-elevator servos installed outside just under horizontal stab (after problems with servos installed as per plans)
- rudder moved with pull-pull system
There were no other problems (except modifications of firewall to install of ZDZ).
It flew really great. It was gentle aerobatic with unlimited vertical performance (powerfull engine with 20x8 prop).
Landings were very scale like, with gentle bouncing sometimes (like real thing).
Handling was very easy too.
Unluckily, I crashed it not so long ago due to interferences from mobile phones transmiting tower near our airfield (tower was built maybe one or two months earlier), so we have to find another airfield

Hi Lee!
I'm told that mine is coming along nicely although I don't have any pics to post. Oh well, I'd rather he'd spend time working on the plane instead of on the computer anyway. I did talk to him last week and he reassured me that it would be flying in the spring. I've been busy with other projects this winter. If all goes well I should have 4 new ones ready for flying weather.
Take care!
Bob

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker
DD, I do like the Spacewalker, but I have another big plane, Robinhood, about finished and am trying to decide on building a Dynaflite Decathlon or Ziroli Stuka. Something had to go to make room and finance my next project. I am leaning toward the Stuka right now, but seeing Marek's Decathlon makes the decision real tough.
Sorry to hear about your loss Marek, she was beautiful. I think you will be happy with the Spacewalker though. It make a good tow plane too.

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker
Well i finally managed to get some pics of the Spacewalker that is being built for me by a fellow club member. It is now further along than what these pics show. I'll be able to take some next week.

I was afraid that if i clicked the full size icon on those pictures my computer would explode
But I love that engine. I have the kit and a Saito 270 twin for it but I've been eyeballing that 4 cly. OS
Where did that landing gear come from ?

Don,
The gear is the Robart Cub gear. It's much better than what the kit comes with, no to mention less labor intensive.
Sorry about the picture size! They are not very good scans.
It will be at our club Scale Show next Wednesday so I'll be able to take some good pics myself.

I just picked up a 1/3 spacewalker that has JR 4021 servos in it, I think these are nylon gears and I was wondering if I can use these without problems, the guy had a twin 4 stroke in it and I am putting a zenoah 45 in it. Think the nylon gears can withstand a gas engine?

Hey Meesh,
It is coming along pretty good. I just got back from vacation and I am now ready to get back into the workshop and finish my now TWO projects. I really want to get this beast airborne for my clubs scale fly-in June 24. Now that I have the P-47 on the bench, I guess I will have to put things into high gear.
Waco,
They might not be enough torque they are only rated for 72 oz of torque. The ailerons are pretty big and this is a 1/3 scale plane. I personally have given up on nylon gear servos for anything 1/4 scale (80 inch WS) or larger. I ripped apart a pair of 811s on a Funtana so after that I only use metal gear servos. I plan on using the new ST 125s from JR on my P-47. More than enough torque and MG to boot. This is a big beast even though it will be slow and gentle flyer. I would go with the MG servos. Hope this helps.

Don,
We had a discussion about that very thing last night. He will be installing additional baffling to direct the air inside thw cowl.
Lee,
Thanks! He is very meticulous to say the least!

Bob, since your there is that gear #690 or 690B they are both for a 1/4 scale cub but one is slightly wider than the other. 690B is about 1" wider top & bottom. If you don't know I'll check the plans when I get back home ( 4 weeks ).
Thanks ..............
Thanks ..............

Don,
I'm not sure but I know he measured before he ordered them.
I'll see If I can get hold of him today and ask him to measure the width of the fuse at the gear mount.
