I saw the AW Yaks at the AMA Convention this month and just wanted to add that these are great looking and impressive models. The colors and the fit and finish and attention to detail are outstanding. Nice hardware, etc. AW's seem to have all of the bases covered here. They obviously did there homework. Mark did a great job of going over the model's details with me. I'm sure they'll be selling a lot of these. The only thing missing are those great looking female models that they use in their ads!

If I order one now how do I go about getting one with the pre-drilled control horn holes?.

The first shipment will not have predrilled control horn holes. But it is very easy to do and dosent take much time it is just like all other arfs out there today plave them where you want them and then drill.

For all that are interested the shipping date ( from China) is mid February ( unless the slot closes for some reason) and you can expect a minimum of 5 weeks (boat, customs etc) after that before anything could be shipping to customers. Seems like they missed the late December, early January, mid January, late January, mid February date!

OOPS. I thought they were both in the same container....I was misinformed. There is a guy here in the Springs that ordered one of these and thought they would be in on the same shipment.

Would either a DA-50 or 3W-50 engine fit without cutting the cowling for the cylinder head.
Also ... what muffler would fit within the cowling for either engine.

I really do not wish to have the engine or muffler hang outside .. but I am very interested in this plane.

Thanks !

Not really but the cutout is on the bottom and a DA50 hardly shows. http://aero-works.net/store/images/u...arge/yak03.jpg Check out the manual and other pics here http://aero-works.net/store/detail.aspx?ID=254

I'll wait until Gene Payson gets some planes to sell and then take a closer look. I'm inclined at this point to wait on the feedback from you guys who are purchasing off the first batch. If the feedback is good then I'll buy one of these in a heartbeat. Of course the rhetoric here about the delivery date on the planes is sounding like what we have heard for months about the EF YAK .

Think the yak will make a good first gas project?. Been flying glow for 15 years & now want to get into gas. I really like the looks of this plane.

Yes it is a very stable airplane and is an easy build. And if your still unsure about the final setup or are nervous about flying it find a guy who flys bigger planes to take a look at it for you.

I just put my name in the hat for one of these to replace my H9 Cap. Do you guys think a stock DA muffler will fit in the cowl. I was thinking it would since it bareley didnt fit in the cap witht that narrow chin.

Well, the stock muffler fit inside my EF Yak, but barely. Ki0qm (Bob) ordered one of these, too, and I talked to him about this last night and he said that he was informed that the stock muff would only fit by hacking up the cowl...but I've been wrong before!

With DAs being back-ordered until March I am thinking maybe a ZDZ60 or MVVS/Evolution 58 for this one. What do you think about that Mark?

At our altitude I would but a 58 in it if i where going to get one. It will provide the right power to weight that you are looking for. Figuers there backordered when i need a motor anyone have a used DA 100 they want to sell?

Uh, yeah, Andy, in that case, the stock muff will fit like a glove, for you!!!

Mark, I assume you are brand-loyal, but what about the 3W 106? Or my choice (not because of brand loyalty but weight), the BME110??

I've decided to order this plane. Now which motor DA50 or wait for the BME55. Looks like a very well built bird.

One word of cation on that BME 55 balance will be an issue. That motor is very light and i am sure has tons of power but its gotta be very hard to balance on any plane.
Bodyworks i was actually considering a 3W if i can't find a DA soon.
