RE: BME Aircraft 30% Extra330L
Ken or anybody,
How did you guys route the antenna? I just ran a wire down the tube in the fuse and it doesn't exit the plane anywhere,it feels like it just butts up against a wood block at the back of the plane. Is anybody using thiis tube or going outside the plane witht the antenna? Thanks.

Hey Brad,
The end may be pinched from when they cut the antena tube. Try running a piece of wire through it first. I did use a small drop of oil on the antena to get it to slide all the way in the first time. The softer the antena the harder it seems to get them into these tubes.

RE: BME Aircraft 30% Extra330L
Well I got started on my building tonight.
Got the gear on and the put the heat gun to the airplane to take out the wrinkles.
The Horiz. stabs were really tight to put on and they do not butt up agianst the fuselage like I feel they should. There is a gap on the right hand one at the forward end and on the left had side it runs the whole width of the stab. Has anyone else had this issue. It seemed to me that the tube was canted towards the aft end of stab which I think is causing the gap on both sides.
The screws were hard to get in, it was like they were not exactly lined up with the holes. If I get a chance I will pull them back off and see if I can take a few more pictures as the batteries on the camara were going as I was taking these. I also noticed that the lower mounts for the cowling were loose. Has anyone else noticed this?
One other issue that I noticed as I was putting on the Stabs was that it seems that the anti-rotation pin holder (inside the fuse) seems to be broken or damaged as it is not a complete ring instead it is jagged and seems to have a piece missing out of it. Tight area do not think I can get a picture of it as it is hard to describe what I saw in there thru the servo hole.
Here is are pictures of the right hand stab.

PAU has been excellent for support. I wouldn't worry about that small of a gap. It will loosen up a bit after flying and settle right in. Mine has a very small gap on the left side also. When I built my first Lanier kit, the wings had a gap in front (about 3/16") and I just flew it until it died by dead stick several years later.

Guy's thank you for the replies as I was hoping this was a none issue. I sent them an email last night and I'0 sure that they will take care of any issues. Had the cowl problem when I first got the airplane and it was takken care of really quickly. Speaking of cowls any else look at what number their airplane is. My original cowl is number 9. The new cowl is marked as 38. Well back to work.

Got home and an email was awaiting, PAU/BME are a great bunch to work with as they do respond really quickly.
This is my second airplane from them as I also owned a Cap Maniac which I really loved to fly until I had to retire it.
Put it thru the paces even had a really close call when it went between two trees and emerged without a scratch.
A very interesting day that was. All I can say is they do make good airplanes and answer any question promptly.

Fantastic pics JohnVH, and again super flying Ken, I have just completed cg-ing my plane and checking the incidences, the incidences on mine are all at zero, i have my plane balanced at 5-7/8",will this be alright for maiden? It might end up a little closer to 6" as I am still waiting for one pushrod end for the elev. Thanks, Brad.

Thanks Brad!
You should be fine at that CG but it is at the rear end of the range. If you can, I would start at 5" and move it back to suite your own taste. So whens the maiden?
John,
This plane is a blast and as you can tell it keeps me entertained.

Hey Ken,
I got the parts today, thanks very much for everything, I really do appreciate it. I might, maybe, possibly, could be maidening on thurs or friday, supposed to be about 55 degrees and a 3 mph wind. I started the Taurus in my yard this evening and ran a first tank through it all seems well there. I am planing on running 1 or 2 more and playing a little with the needles and then put it in the air. I will take my camera along and take some pics. they won,t be anything like John's but you might be able to make the small dot 300 feet up, out to be a plane, lol.

John, how do you think this plane would perform with a Brillelli 60? With pipe it's 4.2 lbs. the DA is much lighter but not sure how much it is with the muffler or tuned pipes. I've read where several people have put a B60 on the EF Yak 88 but nothing about one on the 330L. Anybody out there tried a 60 on the 330?

Should fly fine with the Brillelli but that kind of power is not needed on this aircraft. This Extra has 1,420 sq in of wing area so it's not hurting in the wing loading department. Like John said, you do want to try and keep it lite. Take a look at post 433. badfish did a great job keeping it under 16lbs and he was using a heavier motor as well.
