RE: New BME Aircraft 30% Extra330L
Hello Ken
The tuned pipe that i am looking for is 27 inches long, 2''3/8'' diameter. Add 12'' curved header. It looks like the end of the pipe must go outside the fuse and under the wing tube.

It sounds like you would have do do quite a bit of modifying to make that pipe work on it. At 30+inches your going into the first former of rear servo tray area. I posted some pictures of it on page one.

Any news on this plane, I emailed them about 10 days ago and have heard nothing from that. For me it might be time to consider alternatives.

I heard there on the way but don't quote me on it. Hopfully someone from BME will chime in with some more info. Can't blame you for finding something else after waiting so long. I can tell you that you will be very pleased with this Extra. Max, any word on the Extras?

HI all, I ordered a 300 from max a while back now and in June I was told it would still be some time before they would arrive. He asked me if I wanted my deposit back and I told him I was in no hurry. I noticed on my monthly Visa that he had refunded my deposit.
Has he refunded any one else, just curious as to whats going on.

Spoke to Max yesterday. He assured me the Extra 330L will be leaving overseas very soon. He explained that a fire (I think he said at the wing bag factory) has caused the long delay. He said everyone on the order list will be contacted when the planes are ready to ship, to decide if you still want it. He apologized for being busy and not responding on this forum. He also said thanks for your patience. Projected arrival is beginning of September. I personally think it's worth waiting for.
Hope this helps.

Looking at their website today it looks like they have new ownership/partnership and are changing their name to "Performance Flight Unlimited!!!" . It also states that the extra will be leaving the factory very soon. I hope this is good news.??
Just wondering how good the modified G62 would be in this plane as far as balance and performance? Any opinions?

The lightened G62 will be a pound heavier than the DA50 and ZDZ50. It'll be very good performance wise but you'll need to push all the batteries back. In the worst case you may need to add 4-6 ounces of tail weight. Still not a big deal IMO.

I was sorta thinking that it might be too heavy, maybe not. I looked at the BME 55 that someone mentioned earlier and it isn't released yet but 2.1 lbs. is a feather light.

A little extra weight in the nose is not an issue. Lack of the weight in the nose is. That BME 55 would require everything pushed way up front including the elevator servos.

Your probably right. The last thing I want is to be tail heavy. Any way I was just thinking ahead of myself a little. I just hope it ships before the holidays. Then maybe I could get it finished by spring.

RE: New BME Aircraft 30% Extra330L
Well, we're rockin on into the middle of September now. Does ANYONE have ANY idea when these planes will be available? I'd order one TODAY if they were here, but I'm really not wanting to commit a deposit on a plane that's not in the states yet, and may not even be on the boat yet for all I know, especially now that I've read on their website about a change of ownership. I absolutely love the looks of this Extra, and the video's have made me want one even more, but I'm really starting to wonder about all the holdups.

Ken, is Max still involved in the business?

All,
Good news. The container is due to arrive inport on October 5th. Supposed to start shipping shortly there after. The new owner has been working hard to get these here and get them out.

Ken,
Great photo![8D] and I read thru most of the post, but, is the plane canister ready? it looks like there is a pretty good size opening between the bottom of the engine box and the bottom of the fuse? DA-50 with a MTW 75 canister?
And your final weight?
thanks, Ward

Yes, it’s can ready. The new owner has equipped one of the production planes with a can so you’ll know what can fits this plane shortly. AUW on mine was 15.5.

RE: New BME Aircraft 30% Extra330L
I am going to pre-order mine from BME aircraft tonight and save $60. After comparing all the 50CC ARFs from the market and I decide this gonna be my next winter project. With all the feature this Extra330 have and all the included high quality hardwares along with carbon fiber components all around, what else can be better? It even come with one full set of wing bags for FREE. Hope BME can keep their promise and start to ship it out sometimes in October. Can't wait to have it

You guys will enjoy this plane. On another note, the recommended canister setup is a 25mm Drop flex header, and an MTW75 front exit canister. The tunnel on the plane also supports rear exit. Should have added that this setup is for the DA50.

RE: New BME Aircraft 30% Extra330L
What an absolutely stunning plane (looks and flying behavoir)!!! I have a Dave Patrick Extra 330L, which I think is beautiful, but this BME Extra is one of the most attractive planes I have ever seen (in pics anyway)!!! I absolutely have to get one of these soon! I swore I would never go petrol, but looks like I will have to go against this train of thought! The only reason for not wanting to go petrol is purely the concern that I would want to sell all my glow engines after trying petrol. Tried calling BME yesterday, but just got an answerphone message. Will try them again next week though.
