RE: New BME Aircraft 30% Extra330L
Hey Ken,
I noticed you still have your Edge in your Avitar. I had mine recovered. Check it out

Bruce,
The airplane looks great. I love to see custom covered planes. I hope to see it and meet you at the big bird in Bellingham this year.
Rcpete,
I'll try to post that measurement tomorrow, I just got back form flying it and it's still loaded in the truck. I will tell that this airplane is light and may come out nose heavy with that motor. In fact, I mentioned in an earlier post that the new BME 55 may be a good combo for this plane because of it. I had to mount the batteries quite a ways back for good 3d flying with this design.

Rcpete,
I measured the cowl this morning and it will be close. At it's widest point it's just over 10". About 9-3/4" guessing where your cylinder heads would be located. I measured it from the outside so I would subtract 1/4" from that measurement. You may be able to squeeze it in there. Hope this helps,
Ken

Yes sir,
I was abusing the Extra and it takes it in stride. The second picture on the top is my favorite. Nice blur in the background. Pictures look great, but I like still the old camera. I guess you’ll have to get some more shutter time with that camera. Maybe this weekend we can burn some more mega pixels?

maybe im a little late to add this, but one day i saw someone flying the BME extra, and he crashed it inverted, and all he did was break the ridder hinges, and bent the servo arm, not a crack in the wood, not a single peice of covering torn, not a scratch, maybe some grass stains. very sturdy plane.

sounds like we got another month before the plane comes in. I called BME yesterday and was told they were waiting on some fuselage bags which were due in any day. then they have to be shipped which takes 3 weeks or so. hopefully end of june.

Would it possible to modify the canister tunel to install 50CC tuned pipe in that plane?

I assume that you're talking about lengthening it? I went out and measured the distance from the spinner back plate to the end of the tunnel and it was approximately 21 to 22" long. The back of the tunnel can be opened easily but that's where wing tube is located and it would leave you an opening around 2-1/2" high. Don't know what the diameter of most tuned pipes are, but that seems pretty small to me.
