Gatorb8,maybe some more info on the BME58 will help you decide.
the last time i tach the 58 it was getting 7560 on a Vess 23-a.i know it's a little much for RPM's but it makes pullout from a hover great. also i got 7050 on a Mezjlik 23-8 on the BME 58,but it increase my landing speed.by the way i got 7100 on the Mezjlik 23-8 with the Evo 58gx2,all numbers are on inverted pitts mufflers.i think the Evo 58 will respond to a tuned pipe better than the BME58.i got 7550 on a 24-8 Beila with a MTW pipe on the Evo,but i haven't tried a pipe on the BME yet.
Power to weight the BME has it all over the rest!

Thanks closetguy
I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on this one, hope to get a special deal at Joe Nall if BME is there. I spoke witht BME yesterday and he said standard pipe would have more power than the pitts. Standard muffler was $89.95 yikes!
The EVO specs 8.5 hp so I figured it would accel with a pipe, but the weight is a killer.
Also now looking at kavan wheels, titanium axles, helium pong balls.........Richard gave me an idea.........helium in the kavan tires?????????
I'm resisting CF landing gear, that aluminum LG has saved my *ss a few times
Maybe HS-65MG all around

The Kavan 4" air tires are very light...3.7 ounces per pair. Dubro and others were like 5-6+ ounces for the 4". Plus the chrome on the Kavan's is very bling bling. I have almost blinded people taxiing into the pitts because they were so shiney. The other tires are the Kavan cheaper tires which are almost as light and only $10 a pair VS $26 a pair for the air.

Gator if you went with CF gear you could save 4 ounces. If you add all the tire, axle, and gear weight savings you could very close to a half pound. Just be carefull because all this stuff is forward of the wing tube and will push your CG back.

Joe,
I was reading some of your earlier posts on the wheels and stuff. Back of envelope calc looks like a 4+ oz reduction with kavan, titanium axles, no axel collars........
I hear ya on the CG, I'll be mounting the batteries in front of the cowl plate soon!

I would stay away from the CF gear myself,it saved my butt also using the stock gear. Plus the stock gear soaks up alot of the bumps, esp. on grass runways..

Yeah go price a fuse some time. You're talking almost $400 shipped. Aluminum will save you $400? No brainer.

$225 plus shipping

Not used CF gear on ours....

tried CF gear on another 50cc plane I had a couple years back... weight savings? was less than 1oz different.....

and they were too darn stiff........ every pothole or slightly doinked landing and every bit of stress was transferred direct to the airframe.....

a little bit of absorption in the LG is worth it,,,,

I'm going to leave Saturday Morning. I'll visit with family in Georgia and get to the Nall on Wednesday. I can't wait. Richard, Gatorb8 we'll have to look each other up.

Yep. Mom lives in Georgia. My Dad is going to come with me also. Talk about a Great Vacation. Go home and spend some time with my Mom and Grandma on Mothers Day then go to the Joe Nall with my Dad. It just doesn't get much better.

okay lets see, if the 88 is the little brother of the 110, the chinn yak is what? little cousin, little nephew, or the red-headed step child, either way i think everyone should get one when they get a chance, here is a vid of me and a buddy, im the second one to fly

My vote is "red-headed step child"

I have the BH scheme w/ OS55ax. It's a fun throw-around & "try new tricks" type of plane. However, I do find that the fuselage will twist/warp if you just look at it wrong. Otherwise, it's a blast. Besides, it IS an EF, isn't it??? It's gotta rock!
