RE: 50cc Setup?
I normally use 4-40 eye bolts. They are usually available at a good hardware store (or LHS), have a deep thread, and I prefer to run the wire or kevlar around a soft radius than through a drilled hole (with sharp corners). I have broken a few over the years but never had a problem with the eye bolt itself.

RE: 50cc Setup?
true but then the linkage component itself is weakened because the cross-sectional area is diminished.
Either of these options is still significantly better than the hardware that was included with his plane.

These are the ones that are included with the Dubro pullpull that I have hanging in the package that I will probably end up using just to be on the safe side.

My fuel dot came in today. It is very nice and has a large cap so you are not fumbling around to grab it with your finger nails trying to pry it out. I should be receiving stuff all week. Three orders from Tower and one order from HC. Everything to finish this plane up.

RE: 50cc Setup?
That is nice to know since that is the only kind of reciever I use. Maybe I can wire up a switch some how to power the servos after the reciever binds.

My servos came in yesterday from HC. My wife failed to mention them to me until today [:@] they even threw in a nice transmitter strap for free. One of my orders from Tower came in today.

RE: 50cc Setup?
Well, after testing the servos I found that they turn about 45 degrees while the Futaba 617 2.4ghz reciever is binding. I think it must be a capacitor issue because of the way they act. If you turn off the power switch and turn it back on within a couple of seconds they will not do it. But, if you wait a minute or two and turn the power switch back on they turn about 45 degrees while the reciever binds which is only a split second which may be long enough to damage something if they decide to go farther. I wonder if there is a way I can tap into the hot side of all of the servos and route them thru a single switch so I can power them up after I power up the reciever. It is just a matter of another switch, a little soldering and some heat shrink.

RE: 50cc Setup?
The best pull/pull connectors are the SWB tensioners. You can tension the cables without having to remove a ball link. I use a set of these on the servo arm and the 4-40 eyebolt at the rudder and it works great.

The switch for the power to the servos sounds like a potential failure. I'm not familiar with Futaba, but could this be a failsafe issue. In other words are the servos driven to a preset failsafe until the connection is established.

DL-50 has more power and is lighter. The new DL55 is even lighter and no doubt has more power again.

That looks like a good idea on the tensioners. As far as the servos, no it can't be a failsafe issue because no other servos do it plus they are not consistent in which way they go. Sometimes they go to the left and sometimes to the right.

RE: 50cc Setup?
I went ahead and installed the aileron servos. After being installed they really don't seem to move the surface all that much. Maybe 20 degrees and then back to nuetral. I can live with that if all of them only move that much at power up. As long as none of them move to far and tear something up []

There is no real operational between side carb and rear carb if they are the same type. HOwever most side carb engines are piston ported, while most rear carbs are reed valve. The TOC-53 is unusual in that it uses a reed valve same as a rear carb DA or DL, so it's not the same as most side carb engines.
The side carb is much easier to access for setting up the linkage.

RE: 50cc Setup?
Does anyone know where to get the adjustable control rods like the gold anodized ones in the pic below. I went to ake one of them apart to install it on an elevator half and who ever screwed it together at the factory messed it up beyond repair. So now I am one control horn short.
